How to go from friends to dating? any tips

Recommended Posts

Hey guys/girls umm right now i feel like im in a bad position right now. I really like this girl, but were like best friends. Just to give you an idea of our age were both sophomores in high school. So anyway, she is like my "best friend" and we talk like all day everyday. I would like to ask her out but i just dont know the best way to do it. Im the funny guy in our group so im really good friends with her and i can make her laugh like on command. Im worried it will be wierd for her if i asked her out. We hang out at group social events every weekend. The only problem are these two other guys who are interested in her. I dont think she has a clue that i like her so she always talks about them with me. She asks me for advice and then tells me how much she doesnt like them. I dont know what to think of that. Anyway we talk every day and at the end of our convorsations she always says " love you best friend". I really need help because i don't want to lose my chances with this girl.

Just invite her over to your place or some other place where you can both be alone... Don't make it seem like a date make her think its just hanging out. and then tell her you want to wisper a secret... then wisper you can stop yourself... then Kiss her. then say "that was nice" and try to make out! olright man go for it and please for the love of god take my advice and do it this week. At a minimum you will have got to kiss her... and don't worry about making things weird or getting rejected because you have to do that in order to get her. My guess is that even if she rejects you she'll still want you to be her friend... and in that case just keep making moves till she either falls for you or tells you to F off... and oh yeah she probably doesn't like you that way so this kiss will do the trick one way or the other. GOOOOOOO for it

It's likely that you've already lost your chances with her.

I had just previously written in another thread that you need to draw the lines of what you want when you first meet a woman. If you do nothing to indicate that you're attracted to her, then you've drawn the lines of friendship. If you show her through your body language that you ARE attracted to her, then you've drawn the lines of (for the lack of a better term) a "romantic relationship".

Turning an existing friend into a girlfriend can either be extremely simple, or extremely complicated. If you're lucky, she is already attracted to you and is waiting for you to make a move. If you're unlucky, she will say "I don't see you in that way" or "we're just friends". If you get this answer, it would be in your best interest to terminate the friendship and look somewhere else for a girlfriend.

If you want to date her immediately, just come straight out and ask her if she's interested in more than friendship.

If you have a load of patience, cut contact with her for a year or more. When you get back into contact with her, you need to re-draw the lines of what your relationship is going to be. You can again do nothing and draw the lines of friendship, or avoid repeating history and show her that you are indeed attracted to her.

tell her you want to wisper a secret... then wisper you can stop yourself... then Kiss her. then say "that was nice" and try to make out!

OH BOY! Let's go play with leprechauns, sing about lollipops, and have a smurfy fun-shiney day!

Dude, you should write for Disney

my advice is much better. If your both sophmores in hs just the fact that she talks to you a bunch is a great sign. Cutting ties with her for a year or even months would be a bad idea. Just get the balls to do what I wrote about in my first post and makes some moves and kiss her. Remember at a minimum your going to get to kiss. Dude it's like 80% likely to turn into a make out session. I'm not saying she'll start dating you for sure, and your in HS so even if she starts dating you it could be over in a few weeks. But go for it. Remember there are plenty of other girls out there and your imagnined worst case scenario is all in your head. Most of what LoveGod said is crap so just go for it

ur advice is easier, just give up or hope he was lucky and she already likes him, or put things off for a year. sure it might have been better if he never let him self become such a friend,,, but oh well thats where he is and the plan I outlined will work

Right beauties they are! Look how majestic they fight. Oi! Look, this one on the bottom just did a naaasty blow to the nose of the one on top. He'll be hard pressed to keep on his feet after that.

"Love you best friend"? Kinda obvious as to where you stand in her life...

Thank you blueharvest about time you broke these two lovebirds up ;). While I don't agree with eithers point of view on specifically how to go about it, I agree that you need to make her aware of the fact you're interested. Just tell her how you feel, the majority of girls out there appreciate a guy who is honest with them. If she says she's felt the same way, well let nature take its course, but if she says she's not interested then you really need to decide if it's worth maintaining the friendship and putting up with the fact she's probably gonna be interested in another guy at some point down the road and you'll have to deal with that fact. If it's too much for you, tell her that you just need some time away from her and that you need to decide if you are ok with being "just" friends with her. Best of luck man!
