awesomeness43
So i used to party major 365 days last year and along the way i picked up a drug called ecstasy. I never thought it was that big of a deal and would do it every weekend at clubs or parties. I never really noticed the effects of it and functioned normally, ie successful and productive at work. I have done research on it and the "holes in your brain" campaign never really bothered me as i always thought it was a myth. Due to the horrible housing market and slow economy, i decided to go back to school. I am now just worried if it will interfere with my studies? How often do you take ecstasy and how much? Does it affect you? Thanks...
donnamaybe
It killed a gal in my town (there are probably more, but she made the paper). She died from dehydration, and it was a painful, horrible death.
Author awesomeness43
Thing is, i have done research and i do drink enough water to keep myself hydrated but not enough to get a brain tumor. I do take breaks inbetween of dancing or whatever i might be doing and i do not take more than one at once. how safe do you think it is?
donnamaybe
I'd steer clear of it. And meth. Ick. I'm no scientist, nor in law enforcement, but ecstasy is one drug I've heard too many alarming things about. And I've tried my share.
CommitmentPhobe
I did it a lot during the early 90's when the stuff was really strong. Haven't done it for about 12 years now, and wouldn't. Some people seem to be fine with it, but it can cause problems for others. So I'll tell it how it is for some others. You pop that pill and you switch into that mode where you're rushing etc. etc. etc. now, think about this, one day you might not be able to switch back to normal when the pill has worn off. Your brain has changed. Think about it.
Storyrider
When you take MDMA, it sucks all the serotonin out of your brain and burns up months worth of happiness in one big bonfire extravaganza. That is why it feels like a five-hour orgasm and also why it takes more and more to get you off each time. When you stop using it, everything seems blah and colorless for years, until you can build your serotonin back up, if you ever can. That's the least it will do to you. robaday
I too, did a great deal in my youth over the course of 10 years. Somtimes I'd take as many as 10 in a night. I also drank with it-you can drink a great deal more when you're on ecstacy and coke. I never noticed any problems with taking it until this past year. I always had a great experience with it. However due to the death of a number of close people over the past year, I sunk into incredible depression. I take anti-depressants now which boost the serotonin in my brain. Whilst I have no concrete proof, I am pretty sure that ecstacy has made my depression worse than it would have been if i never touched the stuff. I did one about 2 months ago-it was great, one of the best I have ever done. However the depression that followed over the next week was horrific-I was near suicidal. I know its a cliche, but i genuinely think, if taken in small quantities, infrequently then you would be ok long term. However, I indulged a great deal and set myself up for long term problems. It sounds like your nailing the stuff as well, so i would try and cut down as much as possible. I've quit now, part of this is being more comfortable in who I am as a person-I no longer need a drug to dance in a club, I can do this sober-I used to need the confidence kick of ecstacy or coke to get on the dancefloor. The choice is your's but like i say I think I've suffered long term damage due to my ecsessive use in my youth
missdependant
It depends.. Is it MDMA or is it a pill that looks like E, and has a bunch of meth and heroin in it? Even then, I really can't judge. Ecstacy is no more dangerous than perscription pills or alcohol. Yes, people die from using it. People also die from over dosing on alcohol and perscription pills. Keep in mind, I DO NOT drink. I used to, and when I did, I was a complete and utter addict. I was getting wasted about 4 nights out of the week. I now stick to recreational drugs.. pot, mushrooms, acid and ecstacy. However, just like with ANY drug, you have to have self control. I smoke pot daily, for medical reasons. I take the other things once every few months. You probably shouldn't take it every week. It doesn't create holes in your brain, but I'm sure, if you're around the scene you've heard of the term "E-tarded"? This entails the day after rolling, and can have a very severe effect on your mental state.. but more regarding your emotions and how quickly you are able to think and react. Ecstacy was originally used for relationship therapy. I took it several times with my ex. We didn't have sex while we were on E.. We talked about problems openly and non-judgementally, and I do believe it was helpful. I don't see a problem with it unless you're doing it all the time. Just don't become addicted. And if you are worried that you might be addicted or that you are becoming addicted, you should just stop doing it. Also, I think that if you're going to take it, you need to know what you're doing, and how to take it without killing yourself. The rate of deaths BECAUSE of using Ecstacy is much lower than the rate of deaths because of using Alcohol. That's a little ridiculous. Here's a really cool show I watched about it a long time ago, that Peter Jennings did.. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1564288654365150131 Enjoy!

Never, ever, EVER, EVER EVERRRRR take ecstacy while you're taking perscriptions for a mental condition. Oh, and I forgot to mention also... take 5-HTP, and use this website.. http://www.erowid.org/ By the way, in hopes of avoiding judgement here, i would like to add that I am a healthy young woman. I look my age, I am in college and have a 3.9 GPA. I have many friends, some of which do not take drugs, others that do. I am an honest person and a very hard worker. I am very spiritual and go to church regularly. I am living proof, along with MANY other people in the world that drugs do not make you completely stupid or evil.
lonelycraig
I've had a hell of a year, battleing depression and anxiety and a crushing breakup. I tryed to get out more and socialize, and try and stay happy and active. I have some friends that are pretty straight laced that did X once in a while, and while feeling down and doing a little social drinking I tryed some X. It didn't do much, but i'm a pretty big guy so I just figured I needed to take more to be effective. So next time the X was being passed around I took 2 tabs, and another a few hours later. Again absolutly no effect except I was getting really warm, especuially around the top of my head. I'd been so profoundly depressed I think I must have already drained my available seratonin or something, cuz it sure wasn;t making me any happier. The after effects however were really devistating to me emotionally. I got home that night feeling ok, a bit drunk, and a bit warm. But I got in door, and colapsed to my knees and for the 1st time in about 22 years I broke down and cried, and cried untill I ached. I'm a 30 year old ex-british army, 280lb muscular guy. This was not normal for me! The depression that set it after my 3rd round with X (and a litle coke) brought me to borderline sucidal depression. I've not, and will not touch the stuff again. Anyways. X does work your seratonin (happyness) production areas of the brain in a big way. In doing so it can overwork them and cause them to have trouble producing properly. It's not that it burns holes, it just can burn up the ability to properly produce seratonin. belive me you don't want this to happen to you, it is a horrible feeling. Now I suppose everything is ok in moderation, but if you have any issues with depression, please do yourself a favor and stay far away from this drug!
