packing it all up

Recommended Posts

I have been seperated a total of 5 days now and I have to go back on Friday and Saturday to finish packing my stuff. For those of you who have gone through the same thing is there any advice on how I can contain my emotions and not make a fool of myself. Its been 3 days since me and my wife last spoke and I know its going to be hard come this weekend.

We have been married for 15 years and its been hard not wanting to talk with her. Here's someone who I spoke with every day for the last 16 years and to think now she could care less about seeing me or talking with me. It breaks my heart and I know my emotions are going to fail me .. Please any advice would be appreciated.

thanks and God Bless !!

It will be hard but try your best to keep it at a business type level. Just go in & get your stuff, keep telling yourself this is only business......

thanks for the advice. guess I neglected to say that my daughters want me to spend halloween with them and hang around the house. I know my wife will be there and I know it will be difficult to handle.

It will be okay to tell your daughters, in age-appropriate fashion, that you cannot hang around the house this Halloween because you and Mom are still trying to sort out the divorce stuff (where you two stand emotionally, how you two can comfortably interact with each other...whatever is your truth that you think your daughters will understand.)

For the packing, take a "moving buddy" or two along with you for moral support. It sucks bad enough that you don't have to make it any tougher on yourself than it is going to be, in any event. You deserve moral support, and owe it to yourself to put it in place whenever you can.

(((hugs))). I'm sorry you're going through this.

Please do yourself and future partner a favour (it may yet still be your present wife): Read the articles on the marriagebuilders.com site. Especially "Why women leave men".

The info is free - but worth a lot, lot more.

I am not in your situation but I think if I was I would try to see if you could do this alone. Ask her if she could go some where for a few hours so you both will not be put in an awkward enviroment. Hope this gives you an idea, good luck-

This is a good idea.... and if she does not trust that you would only take what you should... she could always arrangle for someone to standby while you got your stuff.

The last thing you want or need is to brake down into a blubbering mess... That is something you really want to avoid.

I actually helped my ex wife move into her own house with her family and some friends... It was the last act I did as her husband.... I wanted to see her and the boys safe and sound.... then I drove off in my little car... with my trunk and back seat full of my stuff.... Yeah.

I had to keep it together... as I was surrounded by people and the kids... Did not make it any easier... might have been different if it was just her and I.
