Shave my head. Yes or No?

I'm getting a receding hairline as I grow older. I actually have quite a bit of hair compared to most at my age, but I'm getting that coin type of hair loss in the back of the head and I hate it.

I read a few really old threads of people shaving their head completely. I was considering cutting it much shorter than it is now and eventually just shaving it.

I wondered what women thought of shaved heads and/or their preferences?

I would cut it short first before shaving it all off. See how you look and ask friends for their honest opinion. If you decide to shave it then do it and be proud of your head. Some women like a bald head and some like hair. If they like you it won't matter if your hairy or bald.

I'm all for men keeping their hair until the loss is really prominent. I think SHORT, well groomed hair almost always looks better than completely bald.

Well, I have a full head of hair but I shaved it a few years ago for health reasons (and just for the hell of it).

If you're trying to impress the ladies hair is the way to go. No question I get more attention and positive comments from the ladies with my hair grown out. When my head was shaved, most looked at me funny, like "why did you do that?". They didn't say much to me with my shaved head, but when my hair grew out, they all told me how much better I looked. Suddenly with hair all of the sudden I was "handsome" and "a cutey" again.

I'd say unless you're significantly balding keep what you have. Try to figure out a style that works for you.

Try cutting it real short. The bald spot looks less noticeable when you do. Also, I have been trying a product called Nioxin that's a shampoo and conditioner and then a follow up treatment. Makes your hair look thicker and I think it really is making a few new growths. GOod luck

Don't shave it CLEAN. I don't think the clean

bald look looks cool. Shave it with clippers but

not with a razor. don't do the Billy Corgan thing,

it doesn't look good IMO. I'd just go short as much

as you can, if you're going bald, people know and

they notice anyway, so do what you can with it.

invest in some caps, hats, beanies, maybe change

your style around to work with what you got now.

Thats a great suggestion. A guy at my work is balding, but since hes a chef he always has to wear a hat. Also, when hes just out and about he wears hats/beanies. He has the same kind of balding going on as you, but you can never tell. And... that doesn't mean you're trapped wearing a hat either - when I first saw the guy without a cap, and noticed he was balding, I'll admit, it was a bit of a turn off, but you know? He looks sooo soo attractive with a hat that I've kind of just... realized he can be sexy regardless of having a hat on or not. I don't really notice the baldness anymore.

I think if you can create a style that says confident and FEELING sexy, you'll come across looking much more attractive then say, a guy with a full head of hair who really lacks in confidence.

I also know a guy who has a major receding hairline at 19. He does this crazy combover thing thats 100% apparent but... hes so incredibly cool and so incredibly confident that I cant help but find him attractive!

Since you mention that you have more hair than many men your age...unless you are dating women 20years your jr., I wouldnt worry about it. Just cut it short. To be perfectly honest, after women are over 30ish...we don't even discuss baldness. I guy is hot, has a great body, maybe great hair or he is sloppy, badly dressed, etc.....but very rarely baldness. Unless it is a strange baldness shape, which yours is not. More often, we will mention the stupid hats he is always wearing to hide his bald spot. And this is the truth.
