chris250
Something happened to me earlier today. I heard a voice inside me tell me that until I reach a point of sinless perfection or at least close to sinless perfection in word, thought & deed then I have no business getting into a relationship with a woman. I talked back to that voice and said "That's impossible. My words, thoughts, deeds will never be close to sinless perfection. I'm going to have faults all of my life. As soon as I get finished improving one fault then another fault is going to pop up." So the voice responded back to me "Precisely. That's why you should not get into a relationship. You are not fit to be in one because of all the faults you have. At the very least don't have sex with your girlfriend or wife unless you have proven yourself worthy by not making more than 2 or 3 mistakes per year." So I got the revelation. I'm only speaking for myself here. I'm not at all saying that others should worry about being perfect before they get into a relationship. I know sinless perfection will be impossible for me in this lifetime. The only perfection I have is what God gave me through Christ APART from my works or my faith. But because I fall short of perfection in my works I'm disqualified from certain things in this life.
Yamaha
Do you honestly believe this voice is of God? At the very least don't have sex with your girlfriend or wife unless you have proven yourself worthy by not making more than 2 or 3 mistakes per year." Isn't sex with anyone other than a wife fornication, according to the Bible?
D-Lish
Do you take Ritalin?

Enema
Well at least the voices are keeping you out of the gene pool.
JamesM
Do you take Ritalin? You are something else. I enjoy reading your posts no matter what forum I encounter them in. Chris? Isn't sex with anyone other than a wife fornication, according to the Bible? Another good point. I know sinless perfection will be impossible for me in this lifetime. The only perfection I have is what God gave me through Christ APART from my works or my faith. But because I fall short of perfection in my works I'm disqualified from certain things in this life. Is this supported in the Bible? ...or do we only listen to voices in our head...which could just as well be the devil as it could be God.
Lovelybird
Sounds like this voice is a perfectionist, don't understand human dynamics
roxy_1980
God doesn't expect you to be perfect before you find your mate. God doesn't expect it after you find either. Personally, I would want to date someone perfect. Not even close to perfect. It's alot to live up to. Even if I could find that person (which doesn't exist BTW), it would be intimidating. I would never live up to their expectations. I'd always feel inadequate. Besides, a person's strengths and their flaws is what makes them who they are. Nobody's perfect and how boring would it be if they were. They would never do anything unexpected or spontaneous. Yawn! God doesn't want you to be lonely all your life. P.S. If you are in fact hearing voices, that may actually be schizophrenia and you should seek medical attention. Those voices could just be talking about religious beliefs because that is part of your mindset. It is not the voice of God.
Geishawhelk
Judging by his question regarding viewing God as a sexually desirable being, maybe it's God telling him that He's not ready for a Relationship right now. Chris, you really do pose some odd ones.
roxy_1980
I would like to point out that I would NOT want to date someone perfect. Couldn't edit.
wuggle
Firstly, the voice in your head is your's no-one elses. Secondly how to achieve sinless perfection is quite easy. Grow up and stop using your belief in an all powerful entity who doesn't exist to absolve you from making your own decisions. If you don't want to have sex fine, but accept that it's your decision, not god's !
