Having a 'full plate'

Recommended Posts

Does anyone out their have the same congested sort of life I have:: full time college student, studying of all kinds, part-time job, etc. with little to no social life.. THANKGODNESSS for this thing called a computer & cell phone!!

Because that's where most of my 'socialization' takes place. When I'm on a bus, switching from campus-campus, or during the times I come on here.. seems to be the only time I can actually communicate with my friends..

My point is that I'd like to hang-out and do stuff with them more often.. But, when I have off, they are too busy.. Or, vice versa..

Am I the only one who lives in this world of disclosure, or is this how society is leading us all??

So as of this moment, this is not my life; however, starting in January, this is how it will look:

Full time student; part time job; full time single mom of two small children; trying to maintain some semblance of sanity...

I'm bracing myself. Surely isn't going to be pretty. Worthwhile in every imaginable way, but not pretty.

Most people these days lead incredibly busy, stressful lives. Unless you were fortunate enough to be born into wealth (which I'm sure has its own drawbacks), studying and working simultaneously is something which most everyone experiences at some point in their lives. I am studying full time and working full time as well, but MAKE the time to see my friends. Having a balanced social life is just as important, in my opinion, as getting decent marks and keeping your employer happy. In fact, I do my best at school and work when I have been able to go out socially. I am completely anal about my plans and time all my work so that I will have a few hours to spare over the weekend to actually enjoy myself.

It sounds like your friends are in the same rut... the less fun you have, the less you want to make the effort to have it. Gather everyone's availabilities and plan a night out (even a simple dinner) a week or two in advance. Keeping your friends will help you keep your sanity in this busy period of your life.
