monkey00
I don't think I'm suffering from immense mind crippling stress. But there is a lot in addition with my inability to sleep at night. This all started around my christmas/new years vacation. It should have been the time where I recuperated from work to wind down and relax. I did some partying and stayed out late a few nights but that was it. After my vacation ended, my sleeping schedule was completely screwed up. Ever since then I've had trouble sleeping at night and because of new job responsibilities at work, my stress levels have increased. I've had everything from ear aches, to migraines, to chest pains, etc. The stress pains are getting worse and my inability to sleep is getting worse. The problem is when I come home from work, my mind is still constantly active..and it seems to be almost always. Because of this, my mind and alertness at work and with everything else has dropped, but not to the point where I'm incompetent or screwing up at my job. I've been thinking of signing up for a karate class to help wind down because it utilizes meditation as well as the mind and body during training (and might help wear down my body physically to tire me out). But since I feel like crap everyday after work and can't sleep, it's not exactly a good idea if I can't be energetic. Does anyone have any suggestions for making this a brighter 09? D-Lish
Your alertness at work may not be suffering now- but if you don't get your sleep under control, it will begin to take a toll on you. I developed insomnia a couple years ago during a stressful time. I am seriously lucky if I get 4 hours a night. I find I have days where I just can't focus at work. I would suggest talking to your doctor first. Try and get a handle on why you aren't sleeping. Anxiety seems to be playing a part. I have a prescription for sleeping pills- I use them when I need to get rest. I simply can't shut down sometimes. Meditation might also be something to look into.
