heartbroken55
So I've been asking a lot of advice from my gal friends about my look now that I'm single. I want to be more attractive to the opposite sex. More than a couple of my friends are saying I should cut my hair. I was wondering what you guys think. It took me a long time to grow my hair to where it is today so I'm somewhat reluctant to cut it. I like it but I don't want to be one of those guys that has some nasty look and is totally blind to see it. Here's my hair now...
DSM-IV Tom
Here's the thing. It doesn't matter what you do or don't do, you will still be attractive to people. But I assume you (obviously) want to know what will make you attractive to the MOST amount of people? This is hard to answer, because anyones answer is relative to what they prefer personally. And ego would allow them to state that basically what THEY like is what MOST would like. You know how people tell you to do what YOU like? This is the best advice. Do what YOU want. Personally? I'd say make it a little shorter. Does that mean I'm RIGHT though? HELL NO. Does that mean your friends are? NO. Sorry I can't be of more help, but if you understand what I'm saying, then I really am helping. IF worst comes to worst, go google male model, and see what the most male models have a haircut of. Author heartbroken55
Haha... Honestly I like my hair the way it is... I don't want to change for people anyways. As long as I'm happy with it who cares right? Like I said I just don't want to be that guy that looks ridiculous and is too blind to see it. I was watching American Idol yesterday and noticed that guy with the nasty ass jacket and was thinking to myself, I hope I'm not like that guy... Thanks for the advice Tom. melodymatters
Hey, I think your hair looks fine, and I agree that if you like it, why change it for some imaginary person who might or might NOT like it the new way ? I don't want to be hurtful, but what struck me as a "changeable factor" in your appearence would perhaps be to shed a few pounds ? I agree with the poster above though who said that we will choose what we, personally like, and I like thin men with longish hair !
Trialbyfire
Do whatever YOU want to do with your hair! Wear whatever YOU want to wear. Think whatever way YOU want to think.
quankanne
the length is really good – maybe look into a cut that emphasizes your strong point/features? Sometimes just a little shaping can be the icing on the cake.

I rather have honesty than white lies which doesn't help me. I'm working on shedding a few pounds. I recently went vegan (and lost 10 pounds) and just bought a 2 year gym membership complete with a personal trainer. I'm hoping to lose another 20 pounds.
IfWishesWereHorses
Heartbroken, Look into styles for people who have round faces. You can loose weight until the cows come home but you will always have around face. Short, long, shoulder length...its the exact cut and the lenght of the layers that will exentuate your best features. I have a round face too (think Joey Lauren Adams) and its imperitive that I have a very good stylist for my cut. Here's a link to links for cuts for round faces. AOL Image Search results for "short hair cuts for round faces" Take a look and see if there is anything you like. Allowing a little more length than you have now would give you more options. IfWishesWereHorses
I think a 2 or three inches in the back and on the sides will allow you work with layers and different lenghts as well as depths (top, sides, back with varying lenghts) at exactly the right points on your face. If the back comes close to the shoulders or a few inches below the chin then it elongates your face. Google virtual hairstyles. Some salons offer this service for free. You kind of get to see the look before you commit!
lonelygurl
Have your hair the way YOU like it. People who really like/love you will do so for more than just your hair!
Princess_in_love
your hair is fine, but i don't like your sweater. (sorry, that was my first impression.. maybe it's the colors? or the colors combined with the print?) you are not too fat, but it's great you've got a trainer! no matter what, just be yourself, and try to find someone who you are comfortable with. people who are REALLY hot are often trouble! not necessarily because they will cheat/lie/break your heart, but because they are so hot you can't be yourself around them. ya know? Meaplus3
The most important thing here is to just be yourself and to be happy with yourself. If cutting your hair will make YOU happy then do that. Forget about what others think it's how you feel that matters the most. Mea:)
Star Gazer
I'm not sure if it's your facial expression, the sweater, the hair dye, or the haircut, but your current look appears very feminine to me for someone who's interested in the opposite sex. I think you'll probably get the best opinion on what would look best for your face shape AND lifestyle from a female STYLIST. Not a barber, but a stylist.
Passionate69
I agree with star Gazer, your look is very feminine.nothing wrong with that. every girl is different, I have a friend she prefer soft looking men, I am the opposite, I prefer my guy a tough looking one. pandagirl
You obviously have a specific sense of style and that is to applauded! Your look is a reflection of who YOU are -- you shouldn't change that! A certain type of girl will be attracted to your "look," and I'm sure that works out for you. For instance, a guy could be the most handsome guy in the world, but if he is wearing Tevas and pleated pants, I already pretty much know we aren't going to vibe with each other. Lizzie60
My advice: cut it.. they are too long.. not the right style for your face. If I were you, I would go to a salon and ask the stylist to give you a nice cut. I would think : quite short (sides and back).. longer on top.. very messy and spiky... that will give you a look 'branché'.. not a high school look..
Chamari
I agree with the poster who suggested you have a female stylist give you some suggestions. That said, I'll admit that my first impression was that you looked kinda feminine, especially with your hair at that length--kind of ambiguous, you know?
Peter_pan
do what you want with it, its what makes you. if it makes you happy, have it like that. but personally i think you would suit a short cut. be more manly. i think of it like this, and to some this will be weird and prob wont agree but... i am attracted to girls (generally) who have long/er hair. now its because thats what i picture my ideal girl to have. and for the female i think they would think the same about males(generally) that a guy should have short hair, thats what guys have. although yeh there are girls out there that love a guy with longer hair. but from what i can see and experienced, girls on the whole prefer a guy to have a short hair cut
