Iamhappy
Has anyone had any experience with colon, kidney or liver cleansing? Do you think it's a good idea? Would you recommend it? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
moimeme
I'm very leery of these things. If you have a doctor who practices conventional and holistic medicine, you might want to consult him/her, but really, the jobs of the colon, kidney, and liver are precisely to 'detoxify' our bodies so it seems pointless to do other than let them do their jobs. A lot of these things are based on pseudo-science and some are harmful. It's really hard to know which, if any, might be valid and you wouldn't want to injure yourself by following the wrong one. Kava is the most recent example of a supposed wonder therapy gone wrong. A lot of people suffered liver damage from taking Kava supplements. I just would not do it other than under a doctor's supervision, no matter how many anecdotal endorsements I got.
itworkedforme
I just came off a two week detox. I detox my intestines and liver through herbs, and all natural foods(nothing proccessed, refined, additives, dyes, ect.) It is by far the best and healthest thing I have ever done for my body. My stess is down, my energy up, and I feel great. Me and a small group of women did it under the care of our massage therapist and herbalist. I have never had a healthy part in my life before. I was drinking 3-4 mountain dews a day and eating unhealthy food. I was tired all the time, had headaches, and my stomach always felt upset after eating. Thats why I decided to do the detox. If anyone tells you a detox is bad, it's because they are uneducated or scared or just don't want to change and get healthy. Do your own research on the subject, decide for yourself. There are tons of ligit books by doctors herbalist and a wealth of information on the internet. And most importantly, if you do decide to do a detox get with a herbalist. They'll be able to guide you toward the wright herbs for your body and detox. You'll want guidence on this. I can't stress enough how good my body feels now though. The great part was, it was simple and worked into my busy life. I have a twenty month old daughter, I'm taking 17 credits at college, work part-time and my husband owns his own roofing corpororation. It was easy enough that I could find time to do! Trust your body, if your not feeling right, do something about.
moimeme
If anyone tells you a detox is bad, it's because they are uneducated Oddly enough, it is physicians who will tell you it's not a good idea. Last I heard, they are educated more than most of us. Of course, you could achieve pretty much the same result from just cutting out eating crap and eat food that is good for you... cdn
I think you need to be clear on what you mean by "detoxing." There are many different ways to go about this and, while some are quite healthy, others are not. Here is a link to an article that presents a fairly sane appraoch to the process. http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/healthyeating/jc_detox.shtml
