Ummmm, don't most married people live together?

Ah, confusion. The set of married people intersects the set of people living together, however it is not a subset nor are they equal. Anything else I can explain for you?

I clearly said women generally don't want to marry down. As I have said before I try to speak precisely. If I had meant "generally don't want to live with someone who makes less money" I would have said so clearly.

Any other questions I can help you with?

Marry, cohabit, SAME thing. The woman still plays wife and the man still plays husband in both scenarios paper or not nothing MAGICAL happens after that paper comes into the picture, you are both in the EXACT same relationship with the EXACT same chores and expectations only now you both wear wedding rings.

Please don't try to sell me the "living together is not the same as being married" argument.

If that were true we wouldn't see the threads where women who are living with someone wonder why he won't 'commit' and marry them I suspect.

Its not the same thing. Marriage is a formal commitment made before the family, the community and the law. Its much easier to end a relationship where people are living together than a marriage

Ooooook then tell that to Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel, to Gene Simmons and whatever her name is, Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, Brangelina and Demi Moore and Ashton.....

I am SURE they would disagree with you.

I'm not trying to impress you as should be pretty obvious. I'm here for honest discussion.

Hey now. There's nothing wrong with trying to impress strangers on a message board, as long as you're not making stuff up. Or are you the unique snowflake who has transcended the common inclination to impress strangers on the Internet with wit, wisdom and dispassionate relaying of The Facts?

Honesty begins at home.

On the contrary I'm certain they are well aware of the specific differences. Feel free to start a thread on the fact that cohabitation and marriage are identical if you like, I'd love to discuss that one as well.

Riiight 'cause there is hardly any divorce happening out there these days, since marriage is a guarantee and promise to god and the world. Also there is not infidelity because people respect marriage so much.

Don't make me laugh.

It's the EXACT same thing, people have the exact level of commitment to marriage as they do living together. It works as long as you make it work a peice of paper and two gold bands ain't worth SHET.

It's not about dragging hollywood into it what do want me to give you an example of Tammy George from my hometown who is still living with her mate and with kids and never married?

Is that a good example for you Tammy George whom you haven't a clue who she is or what her life is really about?

I gave examples everyone knows.

Typical of a man to misunderstand what a woman is trying to say.

I have to admit, I'm sort of taking a shine to you. On an intellectual basis, nothing funny.

Everybody's getting tired, me too.

I wish everybody could just be happy for real and shut up :), and that would've been a good thing .

I don't know where you get this stereotype from but it's dead wrong. The girls I'm dating have all worked around the house very hard to help their mom. They have learned from their mother how to cook and care for a house. I don't date lazy women.

The 24 year old I'm dating at the moment is actually caring for all her younger siblings while her mom runs the family business that was left to them when her father died of cancer. She seems to be holding up quite well and in fact ti's hard to find time to date her because she's so focused on her responsibilities. I think she's pretty awesome.

I only need one, and you are right the laws of economics apply very directly. The women with those traits have more to offer and get higher bids in the dating game than others who offer less.

So when are you going to marry her and let her stay at home and be a "kept woman"?

..and this is the exact attitude that has made marriage so passe and fleeting... Like trading in a car for the next one when things aren't just perfect. It's not the same thing to me. When I married my ex wife I effin' meant it.. apparently she didn't.

Hello... commitment!?? The whole point of marriage is taking it to the next level. Hell or high water and all that. If you're not willing to follow through just don't get married. You'll save yourself and any SO a lot of pain.
