I'm sorry but what was so untraditional about Kay's (Diane Keaton) role? She was a schoolteacher for goodness sake. Is that a 'ball busting' career to you guys?????????????

Anything that is not 20, pink pom-pom booties, Daisy Duke short wearing, with an IQ or 30, and a one track recording that says "give it to me master, can I serve you another, me love you long time" is a ballbuster career woman to them.

But if you were looking for advice the entertainment value WOULD get lost on you, you'd be looking for advice not entertainment.

Yep! If I was looking for advice I'd be looking for advice!

This thread is strictly entertainment and there is no accounting for taste when it comes to what we find entertaining. :p

You're here contributing so it must do something for you.

OH NO! Now they're attacking Ireland!!! CALL THE UN!!! :)

This is actually a depressing thread. I didn't know there were guys that were this bitter about women. Oh, I'm so naive sometimes. No, I think I'll spend my time with the "manginas" and finish my engineering degree, and then we can talk science!

Good luck guys finding your "traditional" wives. Or 20-year olds looking for a free ride, whatever you want to call them. But they'll be hot and young so no worries.

Seriously though..why would a guy want to get married? The only reason I see to get married would be to start a family. Unless I loved a guy and it was really important to him, then I would for him. Other than that I also gain nothing from it.

Holla for engineering degree! Sorry. Anyway, negativity is a general theme on these boards because most of the people are here because they have had/are having relationship problems. All the happy people are out with their SOs. :D

I like how all Michael had to do was get permission from her father and then she was given to him pure and untouched, yes

Uh, no I didn't get that impression at all. It seemed to me that she was very strong-willed (I'm thinking about the scene where Michael is trying to teach her how to drive a car... and one of the capillo's (or whatever they're called - foot soldiers) was saying how she would make a great American wife (presumably because of her ability to assert herself!).

No, I'm convinced if she didn't want the marriage, she would have had no trouble getting her father (and everyone else) worked up into a helluva vendetta against Michael's mere presence in that little Sicilian village.

Well, relative to the girl from the old country she was :). "Oh, Michael, who is he, what's his name?". She asked more questions in the wedding scene than all of the guys combined in the rest of the movie :lmao:. No talking while the big boys do business, please :p!

That is true, no doubt. Most of the threads quickly get out of hand. While it's amusing, and I can't say that I always approve, we should ask ourselves *why so many people feel this way?* Do you seriously believe that a bunch of socially challenged mysoginists/man-haters have decided to find refuge from the big bad world and to unite against the opposite gender? Puleeeze. I do not think that I've had any particularly 'horrendous' personal experiences with women, yet in everyday interactions, relationships I have had a chance to be close to, etc. I do notivce much of the negative dynamics discussed here, sense of entitlement and "demands" being a big one.

So, I don't think anybody here (myself included) does anything to dissolve each other's concerns/negative experiences. Hence, the routine escalation of conflict.

I haven't seen the Godfather in a long time but as I recall he dumped Kay because she didn't condone the family business.

You are right. But, I wouldn't call her an untraditional "type" woman.

Le sigh. Pay attention: Your expiration date is looming. Once you pass it, at about, oh, 25, you will automatically be considered old, wrinkled, ugly, ball-busting careerist, have dried-up ovaries and no man will want you and you will be all alone until you die shriveled up and alone. You MUST snag an older man to marry you NOW while you are still desirable!!!

:lmao: Irish, you're killing me.

Gendercide is the name of the game with divisionary threads like this.

Israel = women with nukes.

Palestinians = men who want nukes.

Actually women are a lot like Isreal because they can commit utter atrocities and hurt many innocent people in the process yet they still act like they are the victim.

Not true, older women are great for playmates, just not so great for marriage and starting a family with.
