Celebrating Valentine's?

Recommended Posts

I have wondered with so many of the OW/OM on this forum what kind of outing or get together you all celebrate with your MM/MW?

Seems likely that it would be either the day before or the day after V-Day, mainly not to tip off the spouse. Maybe it's just that I wasn't paying attention to what he was doing the day before or after V-Day...

I'm trying to remember when I was married what my xH did on the day of V-Day; makes me wonder when he said he was going out shopping if he was actually meeting her for breakfast or lunch during his "shopping" excursion.

Also makes me wonder if the OW/OM have hurt feelings knowing that he/she still has the remainder of the day planned with the spouse.

My SH and I had early evening Valentines, complete with gifts (nice ones - I was impressed!) and such. Then later on in the evening, he went out and saw his girlfriend and he had gifts for her too. He celebrated with both of us at different times, with different motivations and outcomes to say the least!

I'm sure his girlfriend (I don't call her OW even though technically she is) was happy that he was able to see her, even though it was pretty late. I'm not sure how she felt about him not seeing her until late that night. He has always been very, very clear with her about the limitations so if she was upset I doubt she showed it.

I'd have to say that some MM at least try to make an effort on the day - even if it has to be very early or very late.

We work together, so he came over after work for about a half hour. We cuddled/talked, did some "stuff" followed by more cuddling, and then he went home.

It was all over by 7:30 PM. The rest of the night I was alone cause my friends weren't available. So I decided to go get a new piercing (that's what I do when I get bored or restless), pamper myself a bit at home and get my mind off it. It was hard but I knew what to expect. Kind of crappy night but kind of not...

and when he left to see her - where did he say he was going?

I already knew - it was understood, I guess. He even told me what he got her, and all that. When he went out, I knew it was to see her. I also knew he would likely have a sleepover and he did.

He and I operate more as family/friend. Neither one of us has anything to hide.

I have started seeing someone too, and SH knows about him as well.

I guess our situation is fairly unique though. Always has been. We don't consider ourselves married, even though we are on paper still.

LB, how does she feel knowing that you two live together and that you know about her?

I'm glad it's working for you though and you've got a new guy as well..

I do wonder about that. I wonder if she gets sad or if she wants more. I wonder if she will get to the 'when are you going to leave your wife' point, if at all.

She is young and has her own life, so there is a very good possibility that those limitations work entirely in her favor.

He is honest with her about things. He doesn't mislead her, or make her promises, or any of that stuff. He is clear about the nature of our relationship. She seems to be ok with it. For now, anyway.

She knows that I am ok with things. H and I don't have that kind of relationship, and I certainly wouldn't deny him that.

Besides, I'm too busy being swept off my own feet.

I actually try to celebrate V'day a little. To me it is just another day, still I would get my valentine / SO something.

It makes sense. People get so gaga over the ridiculous notion of Valentines Day that they feel the need to be with the one they love/lust after on this one "special" day. Doesn't take a genius to figure out they're going to be stupid.

I agree. True.

And I have to say that I can't believe it but I actually agree with Lizzie on here.

V-day should be most days...with flowers, nice words, special treats and favors, lots of consideration and love. Now that's how it should be..not just on one day.

That said, we do celebrate it.;) But it's really not that different than many other days we have.

Watch your back T.

:lmao: Hahaha! You're bad.

Very funny, AC. Actually I'm laughing because I ran out of coffee on V-day and Mr. T offered to go get me some but was gone forever and I teased him about whether he went to go see his g/f!:lmao:

I celebrated V-day five days early by making dinner at my place with my MM, and a fancy dessert, then the "other" kind of dessert. We had one other night later in the week. I had my kids for V-day and visited family. Then, my bf who was going out of town for the weekend gave me chocolates from the dollar store. I was pissed! When I mentioned it to my MM he said, awww I'll get you some real chocolate, so that is what I am getting when I see him tomorrow :)

I tried to break up with the bf but he is determined to make this work. So much going on in my life right now, I have to hang on for a bit, bf knows I'm playing along though.

What? You have a b/f AND a MM?

Did I read that right?

So one gave you chocolates from the dollar store and the other pretty much gives you nothing? Have I got that right?

Ewwww.

The MM has something for me tomorrow (we work together). He is very good with gifts.

The MM and I have other plans because of our schedules, and so we have alot of patience. I'm leaving for a week, and then we go on a business trip together.

He spoils me on our trips.

Very good with gifts? :lmao: We must have different ideas about what comprises a "gift" I guess.:)

The rest sounds uhm...just loverly. Enjoy.

Oh, God! I swear I thought of hiring a PI last night when BF cancelled on me, due to babysitting his kids . Good thing we talked on the phone almost all night, so at least that cleared any doubts I had on him..:)

That's great I guess, shygirl.

I just think there's something wrong either with you or with your SO if you're thinking of hiring a PI. Know what I mean?

Wow. I don't know what to say. Thanks, shygirl! I sure appreciate your honesty.
