Hugh Laurie looks better than he did in Blackadder! He was cute then, but he has sex appeal now.

True. Some also don't.

Men tend to always go for women who rate at least 2 or 3 points higher than them especially below average looking guys and then complain that they can't get anyone. Good looking guys who are popular seem to have more realistic expecations than the average to below average looking guy, and I'll tell you why:

Good looking guys don't need to rely on arm candy that is better looking than him to make himself feel like he is good looking, he knows he is good looking. The attractive woman by his side is just the need to want someone who is equally attractive.

This is so true!

thats cos they don't allow themselves to age gracefully. some end up growing beer guts, grow some ridiculous mullet while going balled, etc.

Here here!!

And tastes change as a woman gets older don't you think?

I have a much broader view of handsome or attractive than I ever did in my 20s.

The really skinny ones have gained weight, the wrinkles around the eyes give a lot more character, the awkward ones have gotten some confidence, etc.

He is scrumptious is he not?:love: Not sure if I like him more as an American or Brit.

Well actually, his American persona bothers me a bit precisely because he puts it on so well. I like him better as a Brit, even if he was dorky back then.

Do any of you know couples where the man and woman are both eye-catchingly good looking?

I don't know *any*. If the guy is a 8-10/10 in looks, he almost invariably goes for the cute girl next door.

Just a typical Sunday (or any day) on LS :D

Getting away from Tom, to someone shorter and now older; let's say Dustin Hoffman was a regular guy and not a film star. Would Mrs. Robinson really have knocked his socks off? Would he have stolen away Katherine Ross from her handsome and taller fiance, played by the blond hunk Brian Avery? ;)

I would do Dustin Hoffman in a FLASH he is SO SUPER SEXY!! Height, honker and all :D

I think one's standards for attractiveness level varies based on location. One could live in the midwest and the average attraction level of both sexes could be say 6. Whereas if someone moved to Brazil, Sao Paulo the average attractiveness level could possibly 8.

I live in nyc, and there are certain parts of town where I can continually see pretty guys or good looking guys. And other parts of town where there are just average people around. Another thing I noticed is that many people don't know how to dress to look good when they go out...which I think plays a major influence on attractiveness level.

In addition, it's bad generalization to label good looking people to always have lots and lots of options because people are clawing to get into their pants. WRONG. I would much rather go out with a 7/8 with an awesome personality than a perfect 10. The other night at a party I met this girl, she was sweet, charming, intelligent, and I thought was a 9.5. The following day I had found out she was actually a model. Though at the party, there were rarely any guys that approached her to talk, I was one of the few. And even so I had no interest in nailing or going out with her. There was an air about her that is good eye candy, like she was perfect...but I had no feelings about wanting to nail her.

Also, people on the big screen have gigantic heads.

There is definitely a correlation between fame and a large noggin. Some conjecture that it is so pleasing to the eyes because it's similar to a cute little baby's proportions.

I've got some friends who are married, who are mutually eye-catchingly good-looking. Also, my parents are this way.

I don't get this whole 6,7,8,9,10 thing, I just see things that are attractive to me.

My parents are both very good looking, but not perfect. They both have big noses, which I inherited, sadly. :lmao:

They still make a cute couple to this day!

The thing is that a lot of you men that complain that women don't give you the time of day would not even THINK of going for women that are are closer to your physical appeal level or a girl who is a bit chubby or seen as not super sexy by others even though you think she is cute. I have read men's posts here about how they secretly like some girl but their friends make fun of that and so they can't go through with it.

Many men do go from women 2-3 points higher. So do many women. Possibly majorities of each sex do this.

I know I'm a 1-3 so I know my options are very limited. I'll gladly take a similar 1-3 woman. So what if she is chubby or has an imperfect face. If she is a good person, that means far far more to me than this physical stuff which fades anyway.

There's no such thing as perfect looking people. Everyone has flaws, which usually make them even more attractive. Too perfect looks plastic.

See, there you have it. A mutually attractive couple. It's not that out of the ordinary.

Dustin is NOT sexy. That NOSE -- and he is another tiny one. Just a no-go all the way around.

Now Hugh Jackman -- there's a hottie.

Exactly.

My parents MATCH, on physical and spiritual levels.

This is why I am so picky.

I want a good match for ME. Not perfection, a perfect match.

I just don't understand why more people don't want that for themselves.
