Hi, there are many information out there be careful what you listen to. Bible is a sure source to start with. When you call Jesus to live in your heart, HE can guide you into all truth. Here are some Joyce Meyer's messages, pretty inspiring, if you like, check this link out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUWM2GU8gGM&feature=channel_page

Geishawhelk
In that case, I would concentrate on just trying to be a better person yourself - towards others; being kind and generous, and loving everyone, with an open heart and a kind nature. Speak well of others, avoid negative chatter, and think good thoughts. for starters.
quankanne
read read read – if you can find courses on spirituality, even better. I'm Catholic, so my sole experience is that of Christianity, which can be summed up by the Golden Rule set forth by Jesus: Love God, and love one another. Or, as someone said, the Ten Commandments boiled down the internet is a fabulous tool for research, just be sure that whatever site you access is as objective and unbiased about said religion so that you have a clearer understanding of what it entails. And beware of those sites (or churches) who insist their way is the ONLY way – God isn't into badgering! some churches (and I imagine Jewish synagogues and Muslim mosques) offer sessions where people can learn more about a particular faith; the Catholic Church has something called RCIA (or in our diocese, Christian initiation classes), that give an overview of what we believe and why. Fair warning: Catholicism isn't a simple belief system, but a rich one of centuries of history ... as lovelybird says, there's always the Bible for inspiration, and prayer itself, when you petition God to come into your heart and reveal his path/plan for you. I'll leave you with this parting thought: God loves you, absolutely, completely, unfailingly. Moose
Here are some Joyce Meyer's messages, pretty inspiring, if you like, check this link outOH boy..... Joyce Meyer couldn't be further from the Truth than Kenneth Hagin.... Quote from Hank Hannegraff: "Back when I originally wrote Christianity in Crisis Kenneth Hagin was the prime mover behind the message, while his platform was certainly enormous, and his influence global. There is a new breed of prosperity teachers today that have taken his preaching and his practices to unimaginable heights, or maybe more appropriately unimaginable depths. Indeed men who followed in his train like Joel Osteen or women like Joyce Meyer are living proof that error begets `` error and heresy begets heresy. As such, they have taken the crisis spawned in Christianity by Hagin, and popularized by disciples like Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn, and took it to levels I could have scarcely imagined when I wrote the original book in the 20th century." I'd steer clear of such "Faith Teachers" who preach that your words birth reality, (good or bad). If this were true, do little 8 year old girls who are raped speak that tragedy into existance? You'd do best looking into; CRI (Christian Research Institute) I'd post the link, but they do sell a lot of books....google it.....and I pray that you'll one day be part of our Family! ThumbingMyWay
I never went to church went i was a kid so i never beleaved in god but now i want to learn about him and everything i just don't know what to do can someone please help?? assuming by Him you mean Jesus Christ... then for a quick lesson to get started...get a bible and read the book of Romans, then Corinthians 1 and 2. IMO, the book of Romans is a text book for living a life wiht Christ. Then buy the book "A Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren. Its a daily read book to be read in 40 days. Then while reading that, take time to read the Gospels in the new testament and then the rest of the new testament. that should give you a start.
Geishawhelk
With the greatest of respect, I'm not sure how suitable the written word would do to pass the message on here. It seems to me the OP would be better going to her local church and starting to mix with churchgoers.....talking may be better than reading, as an initial step.

The thing about RCIA is that it is dedsigned to give a specific Catholic perspective. And although the official position is that other denominations just lack the fullness of God's love that faith provides Catholic fundamentalist are just like any other denominations in their my way or the highway attitudes. The evangelic Christian equivalent to RCIA would be the Alpha Course which many churches offer. While the teachers may add the thing which their denomination is known for it is not designed to familiarze you with the traditions of denomination X. If I were to read any thing it would be a For Dummies or The Complete Idiots Guide The thing about many intersites and books are that they are aimed to poach people from denomination X to denomiation Y. On an intellectual level to me at least the arguments of Chris Hitchens or Issac Asminov are as convincing as any book. A Hindu fundamentalist railing against the desert God sounds just as convincing as the sabbath keeping Adventist and Catholic as they debate against each other. My apologies to Chris250 but its not about a book alone, its about community and tradition also. Unless you live in a very hostile communty you are bound to have a friend or family member who is public with their faith and is willing to guide your steps into the community. Eve
I never went to church went i was a kid so i never beleaved in god but now i want to learn about him and everything i just don't know what to do can someone please help?? As mentioned, pray firstly and above all else. There are many offering type prayers out there to follow but I would say the best route is to write down what is in your heart - very specifically 'why' you want to approach God. Is it to know if the God thing is real? In yor own words write down and pray about this. Is it because you want to be better in relationships? Say this in your own words for as long as it takes. Totally pray as though you are speaking with a person. Be mindful of how your mind evaluates the topics which may come up as you write and pray, everything is significant. What matter is that you are honest from the onset in asking God who He is. My initial questions were 'who am I?' and 'Can I trust you?', and 'Why do you love me?' I do believe that motion and mind are connected and learning to pray is good because it teaches how to be with the self... and how to control the tongue. Drawing close to God does bring about many reflections and firstly a light is shone onto the person who is approaching God. Many negative questions will arise within this period. Finding a good Church is good within these stages - if nothing else to just know that it is ok to be human! But please do not be drawn into a cult or any relationship which is contrary to your common sense. There are many people out there who want to be right above all else and use religion in a really messed up way. I am not that familiar with such experiences because I live in the UK but I have read about people who have met some true sociopaths within their search for God. Guard your heart. Dont give it away to the first set of religious people who you meet. Caution aside, please stay close to nature and animals, they are wonderful teachers. Try and be as observant as possible to simple things around you and look closely at what you do not understand and admit this before God. I would suggest reading Proverbs and The New Testement as well as researching all eastern philosphies and shamanism. Get a feel for the people and the prophets who have come before you and value whereever possible the ones in the making. I wish you well on your journey - I have been quietly praying for you. Regards, Eve xx P.s Make only one committment and that is to search.. all else will fall into place.
