Rollercoasterr
So he's driving down here in 7 days, and I'm fairly certain that this will be it. Since we didn't get to spend valentines day together, we're referring to this trip as our own special valentines day, and he keeps telling me that this will be the one that I remember forever. My step sister told me that he sent her a myspace message asking for their phone number, too. But it's not only that, either. One of the girls I work with just got proposed to, and I was talking to him about it, saying how happy she was planning her wedding and everything, and his reply was "well you can join her in a few days!". Yeah, those are hints. Right? Right? Shoo I hope so!
Island Girl
It certainly does sound like he is giving you hints at A PROPOSAL!! That is what I would think by what he is saying! I am hoping hoping hoping for you!!! I love a good love story with a wonderful happily ever after ending! Remember to come back and update if it is!!!
Sweet326
I am sooo excited for you! I can't wait to hear the update
Author Rollercoasterr
I really hope that he's hinting because I really want to spend the rest of my life with him. We had already had the conversation about all the visas and stuff we would need to do, and what kind of timeline we would need to even plan a wedding. I know that marriage is in the works for us, I'm just excited to think that it will be sooner rather than later!
Island Girl
I KNOW! I KNOW! I am excited FOR you! OMG you could be posting that YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED! YAY! You must be just about unhinged right now - waiting and anticipating is DIFFICULT. I can't wait to hear what happens and I am wishing for you - really, really, really hard! Author Rollercoasterr
2 days, 54 minutes until he comes for that visit where we all find out if he actually is going to propose!!! He just keeps dropping those hints!:love::bunny::bunny:

Author Rollercoasterr
Ordinarily I'd say that same thing. I was engaged for 3 years to a man I couldn't bear to think of walking down that aisle with. I swore off marriage completely. I'm a bit queasy right now, actually. Ugh. Marriage... Author Rollercoasterr
Thanks everyone so much for the congratulations. I really couldn't be happier right now. He's sitting on my bed right now playing with my iphone and I just feel so content and excited I can't stand it. Well, here goes. He actually not only called my dad, but called my mom AND my grandfather. He had my old roommate from college assist him with getting the ring because he couldn't call Jared customer service from Canada. So she called and got them to hold the ring he wanted at an Ohio store, he called to confirm, and he picked it up on his way in on Friday. No wonder he spent so much time in Ohio! On saturday he picked me up from work and he brought me a single red rose, and then took me to my favorite restaurant. One the way there he gave me a little present he had gotten me. It was a little black stuffed dog that had a ribbon wrapped around it, and he had stuffed a love note in the little ribbon. We had a wonderful, romantic dinner and then we went to the lake. It was raining, so instead of us taking a walk at the lake like he had originally wanted, we sat in his car and listened to the rain and just cuddled for a while. Eventually he started kissing me and he asked me if I loved him, I said yes, and then he went into this speech about how he loved me, how I was his everything, his whole world and how he couldn't imagine his life without me. He then starts kissing me again, and I felt him take one hand away from my face and start fidgeting in his pocket for something. He asked me if I wanted to marry him and I said I did(of course), but at this point I didn't think that he was actually proposing. Wrong. He says, "No, really...Will you marry me?" and he turned my head towards the ring. I tell you, I almost fainted when I saw it. It was in this beautiful white box, and it sparkled SOOO much. I started to cry, said yes about a billion times and he put the ring on my finger. Prince charming is getting a little curious as to why I've been typing so much now, lol. TMichaels
Rollercoasterr, Saw your "new avatar" on another thread and wondered why you had changed it. Now, I know. Woo-hoo! "He went to Jared's!" Congratulations! I can imagine you have to be over the moon... Keep us posted how things progress. And, enjoy every moment of your engagement! Tell the fiance, great taste in jewelry, BTW! All the best, TMichaels
course
CONGRATS!!! It sounded like a beautiful moment. :D:D
Lizzie60
Congrats.. Although I do not believe in marriage.. in monogamy (long-term).. I still wish you the best.. but.. it makes me a little sad to think that those posters will be back one day.. posting about their pain of being cheated.. or having found someone else.. because whether you want to admit it ... that is what will happen.. sorry.. I am rather pessimistic when it comes to marriage and long-term relationships..
SoulSearch_CO
Congratulations, Rollercoaster! I came back to your thread just to see your story. How sweet. Lizzie - I'm curious...how old are you? I'm totally not dissing you at all - everybody is welcome to their opinion. I find yours very interesting and it made me wonder your age. I would think at a younger age, getting marriage CAN be a bad thing because people change and shift so much as they get older and the problems you mention can definitely crop up. But what about people that are well-established in their identity and fully committed to the relationship? I think with age comes maturity (for most people) to see the value in loyalty (making cheating less likely). For some people maturity will never come - but for so many it does. Less restlessness - less need to go out and "sow wild oats," so to speak. What is your take on couples that have been together for many years? My BF's parents have been married for 35 years, get along quite well, care about each other a great deal, are happy, and are sweet to each other. I guess when I see examples like that, it makes a stance like the one you take difficult to understand. I'm just trying to understand marriage in general. When I got married the first time, I thought for sure it was forever - but realized as time went on that he was NOT marriage material. I would take my time before jumping into a new one...but definitely, one day, see myself married. But I do have times when I wonder if life-time commitment like marriage is possible. I always thought it was. Curious to hear more of your thoughts. And I hope all the best for Rollercoaster's marriage - I'm an eternal optimist and hope for the best in people. Author Rollercoasterr
The picture doesnt do the ring much justice. For some reason the camera makes my fingers look like hot dogs instead of the 6.5 they really are, haha. Thanks everyone for the well wishes, and Lizzie for her honesty. Realistically, divorces happen. I'm not going to be naive and say that it wont happen to me, because no one knows. We both might change in 15 years and be completely different people than today. But I've got faith in my love, and so does he.
