clia
Not at all. However, you shouldn't get offended when people have opinions that differ from yours. When you post on here about your problems, you may get responses from people who agree with you and people who don't. That's actually part of what is nice about the Internet...it allows you to consider things that maybe you wouldn't have thought of before. Just don't sweat it--agree to disagree. HeatMos
Everybody is entitled to their opinion.... but.. don't be pissy when someone Else's opinion differs from yours. Take for instance.. last night.. my kids birthday.. she had a cake.. after everyone here had a good sized piece of this cake... my girl had put her fingers in the frosting and licked it off. HER CAKE HER BIRTHDAY... I did not think it was a big deal... and I made that known... well a female (childless & younger) friend thought it was the worst thing... she just had to explain to me that I am their mother and it is my job to see that they don't behave in this frosting licking manner. I mean she was just being rude. My attitude?? I told that I did not care that they were enjoying the frosting. The cake cost all of 7 dollars to make. You don't like my rules in my house, go elsewhere. And boy you could tell that my difference of opinion really irked her. (This 25 year old woman comes over to my place after we give her a ride here and back home which is a good half hour drive sometimes longer depending on traffic, eats our food, raids the fridge and cupboards, uses my washer and dryer for free along with my detergent. ) My kids are normally well behaved young ladies, they know right from wrong, and they would never stick their fingers in someone Else's desert or dinner. They always ask before they take. They are polite and yes at times they can be rowdy, but what child isn't? I have never had anybody complain about my girls. Nobody is perfect, not me or my girls, or you, or anyone. My thing is... unless you give birth to a child and raise this child yourself, do NOT tell me how to discipline or raise my kids. That's my opinion, who here agrees or disagrees with me?
Tony T
Nobody is wrong for having an opinion. That's all we deal with here on this site...problems, rants, etc.,......and opinions. However, when any particular person we love is constantly working to upset themselves about something we get concerned and we recommend they discuss this practice with their therapist. The object of much counselling is teaching people to be kind to themselves and not to upset themselves about so many things. The world is a tough place. If we aren't going to be kind to ourself, how can we count on others to do the same. An opinion is a good thing...most of the time. Opinions are natural things to have. But when strong, upsetting emotions are attached to them they become a bad thing.

HokeyReligions
Patty, find a mantra for yourself. One that when you feel yourself getting upset you can repeat to yourself until you can get past the anger or hurt feelings and think about what was said. Like the old trick of counting to ten before speaking in anger. HeatMos: Isn't it interesting how people without kids know SO MUCH MORE about parenting, and believe that they would be so much better parents, then those with kids! I hated that when someone told me how to raise my children! I had someone who started every sentence with "If I were their mother..." or "If they were mine..." and my kids were very good. Heidi2
Originally posted by Patty Im I really wrong, for having my own opinions? Patty Absolutely not.. Everyone, especially in this country of America is or should be entitled to FREEDOM OF SPEECH.. However, there is no rule which states that one has to agree or not with what issues, ideas you present towards others. It's up to 'us' in determing what is/not accepted throughout.
