OMG.

After dealing with all of this for 2+ years we are finally almost at the interview.

NOW the finalization of all of this is getting OVERWHELMING.

We are both stressed out.

We are taking it out on each other and it is endless cycle.

YUCK!

How in the world am I going to get through the next couple of weeks!

Ugh! I am so VERY pissed off at him. And he isn't thrilled with me right now either.

I wish I was there bouncing coconuts off of his head!!

Bonk! Bonk! Bonk!

Sheezus.

Somebody out there give me clarity and patience!!

Breathe in, breathe out! It's okay to feel frustration at the situation. You've only got a couple more weeks to go on your arduous journey. If you can, go for a walk. If it helps, like you said, bounce virtual coconuts off his virtual head!

You've come a long way...BABY! Soon...soon...soon. :bunny::love:

Thank you TBF.

It is SO difficult trying to orchestrate all of this.

Two different countries involved.

All arrangements have to be made by ME.

And we aren't talking European countries but little tiny places with time delays, delivery delays, etc.

What's worse is SKYPE tells me I have already reached my limit of $30 for the month (ugh - yeah - not hard to do at .32 a minute!) so I have no choice but to call direct and that is $1.71+ a minute!!

OMG can this situation BE any more screwed.

I just looked up the rate between the U.S. and the country your husband lives in, on Pingo. It's 0.26/minute. I won't post what his country is or link to it.

y'all have been living apart? Bless your heart, no wonder this whole immigration thing is about to make you tear your hair out! BUT ... the light at the end of the tunnel has just gotten brighter, and y'all are going to do just fine.

in th meantime, have someone make you a dammit doll to bash whenever you need to give into temptation.

Okay -- so I went and looked at the site. And it is a calling card site.

So it makes me hesitant - because calling cards haven't worked to call there since April of last year.

I have about $200.00 of various ones that ended up being worthless and they would not give a refund because it wasn't the cards problem - but the country's problem.

SKETCHY. Ugh. Yuck.

Who are you calling? If it's a friend or relative you can do it for almost free.

Island Girl, it's absolutely natural that you two are betchy and titchy (work it out! :D ) but it's because (I know, it sounds stupid!) your energy dynamics are changing.

When you two get together at last, you guys are going to go through all kinds of emotional hoops getting to know each other, and sharing a space where previously, only one energy dominated.

Your shared personas are going to have to shift, give, take and learn to adapt and compromise.....

THis is completely normal, natural and to be expected.

Ride it.

Now, and in the future.

Jeesh, you've been through so much already, you're such a strong person, that now everything's happening, it's all gathering momentum, and no wonder the stress is showing.

Honey, you do so much for people on this site.

You're a rock for many, and a voice of reason.

Hang in there hun.

We are sooooooo rooting for you. (((((huggle!!)))))

Yes. We have been apart the last 7 years.

Married for the last 2+ but still apart due to multiple immigration fiascoes.

Just a bunch of crappy red tape and laws changing left and right.

BUT ... the light at the end of the tunnel has just gotten brighter, and y'all are going to do just fine.

Thank you. It is hard to feel like that at times. The emotional pendulum swings so quickly from one side to another

Yeah -- I do need a "dammit doll".

One that is incredible durable - in fact indestructible.

I burst into tears literally when I read your post.

I just don't think I can take any more.

It feels as though my chest is imploding. Racing thoughts. Severe anxiety.

Complete frustration with the appearance of a lack of trying on that side of the ocean. But I also know how things are there -- but then again I expect him to jump through hoops as I have had to do -- but then again - I know how the other people there operate and -- it is just a back and forth dilemma for me.

DAMN IT.

Damn economy. Damn immigration. Damn his family for not helping (traditionally they DO but aren't because I am a white American and therefore have unlimited funds!), just DAMN!!

Island Girl, you're currently experiencing a troll. Just ignore it. Stormfront is a white supremist site.

Island Girl has challenges within her situation. It has to be either a phone to phone call or a PC on her side, to phone call on her husband's side. Internet access has its challenges on his side. He's in a relatively low-tech country, with high political unrest.

Oh, I see.

I was thinking of a friend who's engaged to an Irishman and waiting for something to do with his visa to go through before he can come back to wed. They talk daily via the computer - but with two computers.

That sounds like a sucky situation, IG. :(

Many chat clients allow voice connections, plus if either you or your beloved live in a place where VoIP service is available you can invest $20 a month in a VOIP phone service with a local number and ship the physical device to the overseas party.

For instance, if an American man wanted to talk to his girl in Australia he could contact the good folks at http://www.packet8.net for a VOIP telephone box and account. Once that was done, the assigned local number for the VOIP box will ring wherever it is plugged in, it just needs an IP (network, broadband) connection.

This is a little nicer than YM in some ways since:

  • Either party can initiate a call, causing the other end to ring.
  • The foreign party has essentially a 'magic phone' that allows unlimited calling to the faraway land phone system, not just a dedicated point-point solution.
  • Many people are more comfortable lounging with a phone than in from of a PC

On the downside, YM does video, which is nice. The VOIP service costs about US $20 a month.
