!Staring Contest!

Question, because I have heard variety of opinions regarding this matter.

You spot the cutie across the room, and he/she has spotted you (or whatever your setting, but not necessarily a bar/club!). You both exchange glances but play it low and subtly.

Then you lock eyes. One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...:bunny:

Q: Who smiles first, guy or girl? If there is none, who blinks/breaks first?

Personally being the guy I've never smiled first because I've never wanted to send off any creeper vibes. That said I've heard some people say that a "warm" smile from a guy goes a long ways--but what then qualifies as warm?

And if there is no smile, then well, that's a whole separate issue isn't it, because how do you really tell what her interest level is?

Speak from experience? Knowledge and wisdom? Wondering yourself?

All insights welcome. Thanks, everyone.

I wouldn't approach a man, no matter how much he stares. I'd wait for him to approach. If's he's good enough, he'll know what to do. If he's a little wuss, who cares.

I usually take the urge to smile at somebody I've spotted across the room as a clear indicator in my brain that I want to talk to that person. The way I gauge their level of interest is note whether they start meandering about in my general direction. If that happens, I have no problem starting up a conversation. If it doesn't happen, or if I meander and they don't converse, I stop wasting my time with the eye flirtation.

This method is proven to work, is recommended by 4/5 singletons and comes with a money-back guarantee. Humans are social creatures. We go out because we want to be around, observe and meet other people. If every rule in every dating rulebook was replaced with "JUST BE YOURSELF!" we'd all have an enjoyable experience every time.

What ?? Always smile first, you'll seem like more of a creep if your staring and NOT smiling. A warm smile is a genuine one, don't force it, you shouldn't have to , just smile, your looking at her so you like her, 'Tell' her that with the smile, dont make it a cheesy one, just honest , quick smile then look away. then look again 20 seconds later , if she looks back she's interested.

So movement/approaching is good; got that.

But ladies, getting smiles from guys is usually a good thing, yes (if the guy is decently cute)?

There's nothing wrong with it. This is just how I am. If a man finds me attractive or wants a conversation to ensue, he'll know what to do.

Maybe that makes me old fashioned?
