knaveman
I'm no expert, but you might try not smoking so much, that should keep you from wanting to smoke so much. Your level of dependency is solely dependent on you.
era
Are you smoking to relieve your anxiety level? If so, then you need to learn methods of coping with stress. What I have noticed about potheads is : they don't seem to grow as people.
burnwithme
Are you smoking to relieve your anxiety level? If so, then you need to learn methods of coping with stress. What I have noticed about potheads is : they don't seem to grow as people. I'm sorry, but that really offends me. I wouldnt really consider myself a pothead, but I sure would consider my brother a pothead. He has smoked multiple times a day, pretty much every single day, for something like 8 years now. He has gotten into plenty of trouble in his time... he's done all sorts of drugs, but the only thing he still does is smoke herb, and he is pretty much high all day every day. He doesn't grow as a person? He has risen up to be what he has dreamed of being. He is in a band, he makes music on the computer, he DJ's, he plays guitar fantastically well, he is a certified audio technician, recording some pretty famous people. He owns a nice sports car, he has a nice big apartment, all by himself, in downtown Mesa arizona, hes responsible, and hes also looking to get IT certified for Apple. He can troubleshoot anything thats wrong with your Mac, guaranteed. Plus, he is one of the most philosophical and intelligent human beings I have EVER known in my life. { EndRamble } To the OP. I was in your situation until this week, when my girlfriend broke up with me. For some reason the crushing depression that has followed has driven me away from weed. Whether this has anything to do with you, i dunno. The things that I have learned are to just keep busy. it's hard, and I myself have failed it many, many times. I have told myself i would quite smoking, or that i would only smoke on weekends, but almost every time I have failed... First things first, you gotta put all your smoking stuff away, OUT of sight. gone, somewhere you wont run into it unless youre actually looking for it. One thing I have considered is to put it in something with a lock on it. That way, every time you unlock it, you're breaking a promise to yourself (if thats what you promised yourself you werent going to do) and it should be a deterrent. The other thing that has gotten me to quit was the money.. I didn't have a job, so i couldnt afford it. So just think about the money you'll be saving... I know it doesn't really seem to make much of a difference, because HEY getting high makes everything more fun, right! I know, i know it does. But looking back in retrospect, spending THOUSANDS of dollars on it hasnt helped.. think about what all that money could be used for! I dunno if that helps, but i hope it does! penguins33
this would so help me too... I smoke weed everyday to try and escape from what is right infront of me..
Okfine
Burnwithme, I think era meant the person hasn't grown emotionally. Potheads often do stunt their growth emotionally it is a fact, please do your research. That's not to say they cannot go ahead and be something of themselves in terms of functioning workwise, but as people there is a lot of documentation that proves that people don't develop emotionally as they should when they are heavy marihuana smokers. By heavy I mean day to day.
northstar1
Chronic pot users (and I'm talking multiple times per day) often do this to dull their senses, either to cope with anxiety, or escape from some facet of their lives. And most I've known, after a while, can no longer function in a social setting without being stoned.
DutchGuy
As is for all sorts of addiction, frequent usage leads to less effectiveness. The reward system in your brain adjusts towards a higher setpoint for that fulfilled feeling. So yes, less smoking leads to less smoking.
Art_Critic
ok so i smoke quite frequently.. anything to keep from wanting to smoke so much???? What kind of desires or goals to you have for your future ? Will pot affect achieving your goals ? What drives you in life ?... If pot dulls that driven sense in you then would you want to change that ? Those are some of the questions you should ask yourself if you are looking for a reason to stop..
