sunny20
My mom says she has to start therapy because I am marrying someone she doesn't approve of and her therapist told her to make me sign a contract releasing my rights to my family's support when I get married. She knows full well that I am paying for EVERYTHING on my own and that I do not expect a dime from them...especially after I am married. Is this normal advice to give someone? It sounds to me like a prenup. I have to admit, I am extremely insulted. I expected them to ask if I'm pregnant or having financial troubles or something but never to try and get me to sign a contract with them. I guess I'm just really overwhelmed with trying to deal with all these new requirements from my family that I need some advice and quick!!!
Kasan
This all does sound rather extreme. But, I wonder why they feel the way they do about your impending marriage. Is it a cultural thing, religious difference, age difference? Why do you think there is such resistance to your wedding?
