Religion vs Mythology

Recommended Posts

Some abandoned religions are refered to as myths. Most myths never had any relationship to any religion at all.

We call the Roman and Greek stories about their gods myths. But we also call the mistaken belief that a man can be cured of AIDS via sex with a virgin a myth too.

Religion and Myth aren't interchangeable.

I think Cult is more appropriate when one wants to discredit a religion. Not Myth.

My definition of myth would be a story that most informed people believe to be fictional.

I would define a religion as a set of beliefs and practices centered on stories of the supernatural (where supernatural means not subject to natural laws).

Since I don't believe in the supernatural, I have to conclude that all religions are based on myths.

Take out "based on", and you have my feelings.

Do my eyes decieve me, or did a hardcore Christian fundie just say all religions are real? If that's the case, why should people of different religions have to go to the supposed Christian hell?

Fundamentally speaking... there aren't any differences, aside from the aspect of monotheism vs polytheism.

anything is possible :D

No it is not. As rational beings, we should not believe everything we hear but demand good solid evidence.
