Al
How do you handle things when you are completely stressed out? What do you do to calm yourself and relax? The reason I ask is b/c I have all this stuff going on right now and I feel completely stressed out, jittery and just can't seem to settle down. My boyfriend has been taking the heat for a lot of this stress and I know it's not fair to him but I just completely vent to anyone these days that will listen. I'm so edgy right now that I'm noticing little things he doe and completely making a big deal about them. He said that he feels like I'm yelling at him or getting mad at everything he does. How do I control myself?
HeatMos
In all honesty.. Zoloft was wonderful for my stress. It may not work for everyone but it worked wonders for me.
moimeme
Exercise. Go for walks or get into some sort of sport to get rid of the built-up stress hormones. Don't drink too much cofee. Make sure you're eating properly. Try deep breathing exercises. Listen to calming music.
Heidi2
Wow, I complete 'foreign' word to which I don't relate to during any part of a given day.. lololol Yeah, right, I wish.. Anyways, the way I deal with it.. is to play computer games: ie: Solitaire, or Free Cell. Or, even rent a comical movie from my video store. These both sort of help disuade away from what's really in front of me.. And, at a time like this (midterm season), it's quite a hectic time.... fun, fun, fun..
Author Al
I can definitely relate to it being a hectic time right now. At work, I've had to take over the responsibilities of a girl gone on maternity leave. It wouldn't have been so bad but the girl that was suppose to help out with some of my responsibilities never showed up. Now for 8 or 9 weeks, I have to handle both jobs and had absolutely no training on her area of work. Then on top of all that, my boyfriend and I decided to look for a place to live together. Thinking it would be an easy task, I gave my notice at my apartment. Well we haven't found anything yet so I'm looking at the possibility of moving back home with my parents where I haven't lived in more than 4 years. So between the hectic schedule at work and packing my stuff up at home, I feel like there is no place to go and relax. And I feel guilty going out b/c I feel like I should be back at my apartment getting more things done. There just seems to be no end to the madness and of course with stress comes migraines-I just can't win!
yes
i've read up on stress and all sources offer similar advice: exercise, eat well, sleep enough & in proper conditions, keep a positive attitude, etc. Walking's great, in my opinion. There's also staying organized so that your mind is calm and clear. Light some candles. Read or watch movies - it'll take your mind off yourself for one thing. Volunteer - I haven't gotten around to that yet, but planning to. the real problem comes when you have so much to do that you don't have time to de-stress, and you can't meet deadlines because you're too stressed - almost a catch 22. good luck, -yes
