quankanne
get three piles going: in one, put the stuff you absolutely, positively must keep. In the second, put the stuff that maybe some of your friends or family would like. The last pile is for the stuff no one wants, but still good enough to donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army or even to someone having a garage sale. You'll find that it's easier to clean out things this way, and set up a rule that you don't keep anything that you haven't used in a certain amount of time. With us, the cut off is six months. I figure if I haven't worn or used it in that long, it gets given away. once you've decided what to keep, re-organize your stuff. Maybe you just need a larger bookshelf or more containers to properly store it in. good luck!
moimeme
Patty Try cleaning it up 15 minutes at a time. Pick one spot, set a timer, and do 15 minutes only. If you get into it, set the timer for another 15 minutes. If you get tired, then go do something else but plan when you will next do another 15 minutes. The mess will disappear eventually and you'll not feel that it has been a huge chore.
Jamie31
Quank's idea was great, Patty. Maybe that's what you should do.
Author Patty
Wow,thanks everyone! Your advice has helped and I will do a 15 minute for each section! That sounds better then trying to do all sections at once. Patty
moimeme
Sometimes it helps, when you REALLY don't feel like doing any of it at all, to promise yourself a little reward when you're done.
