Missing him!!! ;-(

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone am new here. Little background to my story. My SO and I have been dating for 2 years now. We dont live that far apart about 2 hour drive and so would have seen each other most weekends or alternate weekends during the 2 years. He has now had to go and work in another country for 3 months and I am missing him so much I cannot express it in words. I will be flying out to see him just before he finishes his contract. Obviously I am counting down the days and keeping myself occupied , meeting friends, pilates, walking and working. . . BUT its at night time I miss him the most and at weekends, so I guess I am looking for tips to help me get through these times (because lack of sleep + me =cranky lady!!)

Any suggestions would be appreciated ! Thanks in advance

My first ever post was very similar to yours taurus. I can totally empathise with how you're feeling. Unfortunately I can't suggest anything other than what you're already doing.

Just keep busy. 3 months is such a short time. By the time you've adjusted to him being gone, he'll be back in your arms again. :)

Discovering LoveShack has been a huge help to me too. It's a great little family of people who totally 'get' what I'm going through, so I come here a lot..... and it's good to be able to help other people through tough times too. Takes my mind off things when I feel low...... which, I have to admit, is too often!

Talk to your bf as often as you can and keep smiling. :)

The time will fly by I'm sure.

Are you doing the standard LDR things? Skype, webcam?

Maybe now would be a good time to go out and be more socially active than you might have been before - grab coffee with a friend or neighbor, stop by and see a family member. Aside from that I think you are on the right track :)

I know it'd hard, but hang in there. just remember that it WILL come an end. This is only a temporary situation.

When I really miss him to the point of sadness, know what I do?

I think of something nice I can do for him, and then I do it. While I'm working on creating whatever it is, it just envokes a lot of "happy" emotions and my love for him just bubbles up and brings me joy instead of sorrow.

I also like to recall our good moments. His cute and highly adorable little quirks, or something about him I admire, respect, look up to him for etc. I start feeling sooo lucky to have him in my life  .

The best thing I've found you can do when you miss them and/or feeling especially lonely is find something positive to immerse yourself in. Not just the going out with friends/excersizing/etc. Those are all good things; but finding a positive way to reminisce about him such as making him a special gift, or recalling why you care so much for him will help turn that frown upside down.

Of course no one has to have a good day EVERY day, so as important as it is to stay positive as often as possible, once in awhile I will break down and cry over him and just release my negative emotions that way.

Thanks hoping to heal and Kiwi for words of encouragement. In answer to your questions no I dont have Skype or webcams etc.. we talk on phone every day or sms each other each night!! Time difference is an issue, I am in Ireland and he is in USA! but it works, time is going by and now its only 29 days until I fly out to see him and I cannot wait!!

thanks again for your replies! Really appreciate it!

Hehe, someone else called me Kiwi - I could be called worse I suppose ;)

Skype is a free computer program, if you both have a headset with a microphone, you can talk for free. If you call each other already, might as well save a little cash :)

So close!!!

I see my honey in about a month too, WHEEEE!

I do the same thing!!! I make him mix CD's or draw him a picture, make him a necklace/bracelet or whatever... This helps me a lot as well... And yeah. It may be a little cheesy, but he loves it, and so do I

Taurus27: Im with everyone else. Skype really is the best thing you can do. If you both have access to a computer, and a webcam... or even if you dont have a webcam... theyre really cheap... and it makes a WORLD of difference to be able to actually SEE their face when you miss them... I would propose this idea to him asap ;)

wow 29 days, you're so lucky!!

I too deal with a time difference of 12 hours. It can be tricky, but it works if you work it .

29 days WOO HOO. I'd be doing a little dance..doing a little dance..doing a little dance in my sassafrass pants.
