My husband is missing, perhaps dead..

Ok it's friday morning here. he was last seen outside a bar at 2:00 am early wed morning. We finally seem to have got the polices attention.

They went to the bar and looked at the security cameras and saw him wet, disheveled and walking away. I Guess he DID try and go in the bar the a88hole neighbor was in, but they didn't let him in because he was wet and drunk. So this neighbor seems pretty culpable in my eyes. he knows Mikes young and has seizures and he just leaves him outside to continue his own fun.

And the rain ! It is so flooded here, FEMA will prob be getting involved. There are huge drainage ditches along that road and they have 12-15 ft of rain in them. The are doing walk by searches but they can't or won't send divers for " recovery".

I just sit here by the phone. The morgue has his description, they found someone else but thank god it wasn't him. Do you know what it's like hearing the phone ring and now knowing if it's the morgue ? Waiting for a police car to show up and tell you " the news?"

I have never prayed that my husband would go on a drug binge, but thats what I find myself hoping for. Or another woman. Then I can just punch him in the face and tell him we're through, but at least he will be ALIVE.

No updates. I just sit by the phone. Look at the flooding in volusia county florida, it's inasne. I wouldn't be so worried, but by where he was last seen there are ravines and drainage ditches, 15 ft high, streets are closed, your car couldn't drive through them.

I called the newspaper, they don't do missing persons stories, so with bile in my mouth, I said to the crime reporter, "I'm going to try and "sell" this story to you : he's 24 with health problems all thats on the news is the flooding, people will READ this". We will see if they get back to me.

Mike's dad took custody at a young age, and raised him alone, he is his only child, he is as sick if not sicker than I.

I called the hospital and there are 2 new John does, they wouldn't release any info, so I sent his dad there.

Some part ofme feels like he is still alive, though odds are against it, I am still holding on.

Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers. Mike is the sweetest, kindest human I have ever met. I know the good seem to go first, but I am hoping he gets a little more time here: he is only 24 and so good, so very, very good......

I don't pray anymore mel, but I said a little prayer for you and your family. There's got to be a plausible explanation. :(

My prayers are with you.

Call the local tv station right away and ask to speak with the "news director" -- tell them the situation. They will carry the story if you provide them with all the details (they want the story handed to them all ready to go) -- have ready a good photograph of him and write up a very brief description (name, height, weight, age, what he was wearing, where he was last seen and time, request that people call 911 number if anyone sees him or saw him). Hopefully they will put something on the news for the 5 or 6 pm newscast. But you need to call soon as they run a tight deadline for news stories. Even offer to be interviewed today if needed.

Have your tried FB or MySpace? Or even Craigslist? Anything to get the word out?

Have you tried calling the JAILS? Perhaps he got arrested for being drunk in public??

Praying for you, Mel...

Call the TV stations then if the newspapers aren't helping you out. Maybe if this gets exposure on air, volunteers will come forward and help look.

I am so sorry that you are going through this.. If I were in Clearwater, I'd be out there looking.

I'm wishing you the best Mel. Can't the police ping the cell phone to locate his whereabouts? That's what I'd push for.

Also, as for the newspaper, I'd be sure to tell them that I'll be going to the media (TV and/or any newspaper they compete with) with the fact that they chose to ignore this. They might make them change their minds.

Wishing you the best...hang in there.

P.S. I do pray and will say one for you and yours.

Wow...I can't believe what I am reading. I wish there were something we could all do. Mel, hang in there. There is probably a logical explanation to all this. There has to be.

I don't know who you have to notify as I don't live in the States but there should be search parties out there looking, shouldn;t there be? Raise hell if you have to. The authorities are obliged to do their duty.

Wish we could do something to help. I am so sorry that you are going through this.

WOW. I am very sorry to hear about what you're going through  . I can't imagine :( . I know last weekend I thought something happened to my bf and I went nuts in 24 hours, when it finally turned out he was okay I cried on and off the whole day out of sheer relief that he was fine! I feel so terrible for you because I had a taste of how bad the fear is, the helpnessness of not knowing how to find anything out. I hope everything turns out okay for you.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but, if the cell phone has GPS tracking capability (many do) and is turned on, it is possible to triangulate its location from the three closest cell towers its signal is being processed through. The cell phone provider will know if that technology is in the phone (and you can find out if you know the phone's model).

Thoughts and prayers going out. :)

I read this thread this morning...and I'm still speechless... :( It's so shocking. It just seems like there must be some plausible explanation. I can't even imagine what I would be going through in your shoes. don't normally pray, but I will say a prayer anyway for you, your husband and his father. Whatever happens, you will get through it, Mel. We're here for you if you need us.

OMG, Mel!

I haven't been around her for ages, and just read this whole thread.

I remember being SO happy for you when you met this man, as he lit up your life. Despite all the naysayers in your life, it was a bond that sounded real and true.

Let's trust that that love will bring him home safe and sound.

- JB

Sorry if I missed it, did you file a police report?

Just to answer some q's here: NO the police cannot triangulate cell phone patterns, it is only the cell phone company that will do that, and they only do that in extreme cases (ie. Amber Alert or confirmed hiker overdue for several days) - the cell phone companies generally outright refuse to do this.

In an average size town, people make around 5-10 missing persons reports per day (very rarely substantiated) so I will at least give you my professional experience that it is very very rare that anything bad happens to these people. This is also the reason that the television/reporters/search parties aren't as interested in this situation (again, sorry and I know this is hard for you, but I just want to give you some insight as to why those things are happening)

Does your husband have depression or any other signs of mental illness? This is almost always the reason for these disappearances. Have you contacted ALL his friends and ALL businesses/locations that he frequents?

Again, I'm not clear if you have filed a missing persons report or not. You need to have the vehicle added to NCIC as a "pointer vehicle" for a missing person (if you have filed a police report, this should already have been done)

And that would take a warrant.

I agree about the police report, although I do think she filed a missing persons report already.

Might want to start posting fliers too.
