Sometimes I am so irritated, I really want to throw dishes against the wall... throw them HARD...!! Or another dream I have is throwing buckets full of paint against a wall... MM... So - since i'm living with my parents, i can't break their dishes or screw up their walls. Any less destructive ideas to get this out of my system?? Mellowing out with music works but temporarily. Perhaps I should go jogging. I don't know!

Exercising is not only a great stress reliever, but it's also calming. Go for a power walk or run or do some heavy duty cleaning. You'll burn off some energy and get something accomplished along the way. :)

Buy some extremely cheap and ugly mugs. When you feel the need, hold one up high and drop it so it'll smash. Then clean it up. Something about the sound of breaking crockery can be cathartic. You can also do something I've heard of lots of people doing - take your glass to the recycle place and pitch it into the bins and listen to the smash. I suppose if there's a Greek restaurant where they do plate-smashing, you could go there, too. And, of course, there's the famous wineglass-into-the-fireplace, though it's harder to find real cheap wineglasses and the fireplace is harder to clean. This is if you find that the exercising isn't convenient or doesn't dissipate the stress. I haven't done it for a long time, but it used to do the job admirably. You don't need to do any pitching, just let it fall.

Thanks for your advice!

I ended throwing some crayons at the door - very pleasant! They're too fragile to harm the door. While I was at it, I painted my jeans using the remainders of the crayons - i'm proud of the result, man! It's a piece of art ;P

Exercise is great indeed - but i hate the process of going to the gym unless i have plenty of time for it, and exercising at home - i just never get to it until i'm in major need of it ... damn.

Oh and mugs/glass can't work because i have cats, and i can't risk them running over and harming their paws... but you're right, i could go elsewhere w/ the mugs. eh.

Of course, there's the ever-popular door slam which also provides catharsis through sound but if you don't want to disturb others in your adrenaline dissipation, you need to live in a house and have nobody home when you perform your slam. Plus, if you have one of those wimpy hollow-core doors, the wind resistance really kills a good slam  eh.
