alwayslookingup
Hey everyone, I'm sure many of you have been in this same situation so I just wanted to vent to some people who would understand! My LDR boyfriend and I have been trying to get a date to see each other. Last week we decided to set a date for my trip out there. Neither of us have much money to spend on plane tickets but he offered to buy them since I have many more expenses than he does. I have been so incredibly excited for the past week with anticipation. I know I probably shouldn't have gotten my hopes up like that but I couldn't help it. He was pretty excited too. My mood went from a 5 to a 10 and I was overjoyed. Well, today it did a 180. BF sent me a message saying that he just couldn't afford my plane ticket. This was completely out of the middle of nowhere and it broke my heart. I can't help but feel like he has been bull****ting me for the past week because I never picked up on any hesitation before. I was pretty upset earlier and now I am just trying to think it through. Thanks for listening you guys.
hoping2heal
Aw . That does sound like a MAJOR let down. Talk to him to get his side of the story, and see how you feel about it from there. I'm sure a lot of people will be quick to tell you what they think his intentions was/were etc. No one is going to give you a better explanation of what happened then he himself. I think that ultimately is going to make you feel the best about the situation.
Island Girl
That is upsetting but sometimes things do happen especially with finances. Can you pick a date that is further out and both save a little money at a time for the ticket? Then you will have a definite date to look forward to. AND you'll both be contributing. Els
So sorry to hear that. Didn't you ask him to clarify? Maybe something came up (family member needed help with finances etc) -- and you'd never know til he tells you. If there really was nothing though, no offense, but his actions sound extremely flakey to me. You don't decide to pay for something and then are SUDDENLY unable to afford it if nothing happened. Author alwayslookingup
Yeah, I didn't talk to him late last night. Turns out he had a pretty crappy day, his phone broke and earlier in the month his computer battery died so he has some expenses to take care of. He apologized for the flip-flopping on his decision, but now I am struggling with trusting what he says. He told me that he has a hard time saying no and that he wants to please me but then it backfired. I got the most sincere apology he could deliver (considering we resorted to talking on AIM) about the whole debacle, but it definitely took a hit on my high spirits. He wants me to check into flights later in the month when he'll have been working longer, unfortunately, I'm just trying to get my heart back into going out there. Ah, LDRs...
