iBelieve In Symmetry
I've been on and off running for a few months now due to emotional/mental issues/lack of motivation No excuse, I know. BUT, lately I've been back on track. Thanks to motivation and consistency. Anywho, back to my questions... What motivation techniques work best for you? For me: running magazines, runner's forums, and athletic movies (juvenile, I know... I remember watching spy movies when I was younger and wanting to run out of the theater and kick ass ) Also, what's your weekly mileage? For me: 25-30 I've also been doing some mountain biking with my family lately (or better said, trail biking since there are no mountains in Florida ), which is a lot of fun! ON MY OWN
My motivation is plenty of music while I am running, also try having it upbeat as well as a variety of stuff to fit my many moods. I try and reward myself with little things for example, if you stay on for two weeks straight treat yourself to a small ice cream from Dairy Queen or whatever your poison may be. However, I reward myself with things other than food, I treat myslelf to something like that once or twice a month and that is it. I try to imagine what my strictness is going to do for me. The clothes, feeling better, healthier. Books are good. Keeping a record of your achievements may be motivating as well. I try and reach numerous small mini goals. ( inclines, jog on a slight incline, etc. ) When I am feeling the worst I push myself the hardest and I end up being happier for the extra push I gave myself. I also collect my thoughts about the day ( I wo in the a.m. ) and it helps me to plan how my day will go once I leave the gym. Also if I can get a friend to run along with me, or walk, that is great too!! I try and do new wo's also from magazines to keep it new and varying for the body so you can shock it and it doesnt get used to the same old routine, i notice better results. My mileage is btw 20-30 per wk Hope it helps at all, if I think of anything else, i will post again.

I'm doing about the same right now, when I was in high school and running competively I was running 50-60. As for motivation I just find I need to race, and when training listen to music. Athos
I stopped listening to music after running out in front of a car. But that's another story... I found that keeping a running log always gets me out of bed in the morning. I just feel so commited to the log that I can't let it down.
