barbie_doll
My wonderful boyfriend just bought this awsome truck. I am so happy for him, and he even calls it our truck. (here it comes) BUT, I want him to hurry up and buy me a RING (ya know, THE ring) He's always talking about us getting married, so I just want to go on and get my ring. He knows which one I want, and the price doesn't bother him either. I don't think he's scared of marriage or anything, because he was the one to bring it up. I'm not one of those girlfriends that is always asking her boyfriend to buy her things, this is the only thing i've ever asked for. So how do go about getting him to get me my ring, now that he just bought (us) a new truck?
Ryan
Slow down. How old are you again...and you're already thinking marriage?
Author barbie_doll
I don't think age really matters if you love somebody and they love you back. Just because I want a ring doesn't mean i want to get married right now. Because I don't want to get married right away, but I would like a ring. Don't get me wrong, I don't have to have a material object that proves his love to me. I guess its the fact that I would be able to say that I am his fiancee'. I don't know, I'm just a confusing person. So how do I get the ring? (without being pushy or witchy?) Thanks for ya'lls time and any help you can provide
Ryan
I don't think age really matters if you love somebody and they love you back. It doesn't matter in that sense. It matters in understanding what love is....and what it isn't. Slow the hell down.
Author barbie_doll
ok, ok, ok, I get the point. It does make sense. Thank you Ryan. How about you girls out there? Any of ya'll got any input?
cindy0039
I have to agree with Ryan. You're too young and you need to slow down. A ring on your finger isn't going to change a thing. You have a lot to learn in life first.
Author barbie_doll
Alright, 2 out of 2, dang it. Though not the response i was looking for, ya'll are both right. I would like to thank you both very much.
Ryan
There's just no need to rush. Serious decisions like that.....you don't want to make a mistake. You've got plenty of time to study the material before you get to the final exam.
Author barbie_doll
LOL, as much as i hate to admit it, you're right, Ryan. Thank you very much. I needed that bit of reality(about the exam) now it really makes sense to me b/c i'm in college majoring in Psychology. Thank you so much.
Baubles
It's unclear to me whether you are already engaged and want a ring to go w/ it...or are equating the ring w/ a marriage proposal. If it is the latter, I assume it is b/c he simply does not, at this time, want to ask you to marry him. I take you are 18 and he is ?? and w/ a new truck and you in school, perhaps him too? he may be taking stock of finances, future, etc. If you care deeply enough for him, be patient. In a year or 2 if you're no closer, then you'll have to decide if you're happy not being engaged.
Author barbie_doll
He has already asked me to marry him now I just want the ring to go with the engagement. Am I just being silly? oh fewwy I'm so confused now. Thank you for your help..........keep the tips coming. LOL
Ryan
You're being 18....which is necessarily silly. You just won't know it until you're about 23.
cindy0039
And then coincidentally when you're about 30 you'll realize how much you didn't know when you were 23...and so on and so on and so on.
Author barbie_doll
Ok, I give........ Ya'll are right. Thank ya'll so much for your time. I really apreciate it. Ya'll have been a great help. Thanks again
niko1999
Barbie, I dont think anyone is trying to put you down, or say that you are not in love. There is no doubt about that. What everyone is trying to say is this bassically. You are a freshman in college. There are things out there that you ahve not experienced yet, things youre going to want to experience, and chances are, youre going to want to do it WITHOUT being permanantly attatched. I remember, my second year of school, I was rushing a sorority and my freind was staying with me, becuase we ended up getting really bad weather. Well, we went to a function the sorority was having, with a stripper. And she was afraid to do anything at alll, the entire time saying, I wish I was single, I could do whatever I wanted, I could rush a sorority like you...." You get the picture. She is now divorced with a four year old daughter. Being in college, espeically if you live on campus, youre going to meet a TON of hotties, and youre going to wish that you werent dating someone, let alone be MARRIED to someone. I guess what Cindy and Ryan are saying to you is, youre only 18,you havent even BEGUN to experience life yet, WHY would you want to tie youreslef down, and grow resentment becauase you ARE married? Im not saying it wouldnt work out, beucase it could. What I am sayinng is, dont worry about getting married, and even if you stay with this guy, just have FUN.
