So the other day I had a really strange experience, one in which Ive never had before.

I was driving down the street when I realized that both of my hands have gone numb! Like REALLY numb!

I would touch my leg, and I could feel that my leg was BEING touched, but not that I was TOUCHING my leg.

It wasnt even isolated to any specific region. My fingertips AND my palms were numb.

It was really weird. Kinda scary. It lasted for about and half an hour. Then I had feeling in them again.

Anyone else ever had something similar happen?? Should I be worried?

If you weren't doing anything that constricted the blood flow to your hands, then yes, this is something you should get checked out.

Could be SO many things - carpal tunnel, anemia, or something more foreboding.

I would definitely get it checked out. Do you see anyone at MGH?

Oh! You're familiar with MGH?? Amazing facility... Unfortunately no, I dont have a doctor there. You practically have to be born into that! Hahaha. :p

I guess I will try and call my PCP... I looked up the symptom online, and like you said, it could be something as trivial as having a bought of low blood sugar... or something more serious....

Yes, I'm from Boston. My GP was at MGH. :) Always felt like I got the best medical care around there.

Wasn't ever hard to get in to see anyone there. Not sure about your medical plan, but they accept most insurances.

But for sure contact your doc. Not something you want to not investigate. Maybe she'll refer you to a specialist at MGH. ;)

I think you'll be wanting to head over to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. I hope getting intubated isn't a problem for you.
