kizik
So, yeah. Clearly it's gaseous, but I really don't fart that much. As far as I can tell, I don't eat foods that are that strange... Anyone experienced this before? What is it in my diet that's causing this incessant belching, and how can I change it? Thanks! -kiz
laRubiaBonita
do you ever get those random hiccups? like just 1-3 and then they are gone?
Author kizik
Yeah, sometimes... but I'm more worried about, you know... BURPING all the time.

eyeswide
I love burping. And I love it when people burp. Unless it's smelly. Of course, that's probably not very helpful to you! It's air, right? So you probably have too much air in your stomach. The obvious questions are: do you eat quickly or slowly? People who eat fast tend to swallow more air and have more gas. Are you eating a lot of roughage? It can make you burp. But roughage is good, so I wouldn't give that up!
quankanne
also, if you drink with a straw, you tend to take in more air as you swallow (like the eating fast thing another person pointed out).
tanbark813
Men are supposed to burp. Embrace it.
Thaddeus
Well, if you're sure it's not your diet, you might want to get checked for something called a hiatus hernia. They can cause belching, reflux and a host of other issues. Do you experience pain when you eat or have trouble getting/keeping stuff down at all (other than overboiled brussel sprouts... gawd, they're enough to gag a maggot!). Meaplus3
First thought here is perhaps acid reflux? Do you drink alot of carbonated beverages? Mea:)

Author kizik
Well, I drink a lot of coffee. To my knowledge, that's not carbonated. And I looove beer, but am trying to cut down. My diet consists of a lot of pasta, sometimes pizza, evened out with fruits and cereal. (I'm poor, and I can't cook.)

Avenge&Allay
When I used to drink my awesome soda(awesome soda will remain secret;) I burped endlessly and sometimes would laugh at how funny some of them were. Dump the soda and you will feel better all the way round. If that doesn't work, then seek out a doc to help ya out.
Author kizik
Hi A&A, agreed that soda causes gas, but I cut soda out a long time ago. Def. the beer is my problem, but who wants to quit drinking beer?
