Divorce (or the dissolution of marriage) is the final termination of a marital union, canceling the legal duties and responsibilities of marriage and dissolving the bonds of matrimony between the parties. In most countries divorce requires the sanction of a court or other authority in a legal process. The legal process for divorce may also involve issues of spousal support, child custody, child support, distribution of property and division of debt.

I hope you don't go back to the alcohol. I was addicted (and still feel the pull) to another person - not quite the same thing (much more devastating). The reality after you "wake up" from the haze of your drug is not always what you want to deal with but it is manageable if you mentally prepare yourself and decide that you CAN handle it. Try connecting with your W in small ways, taking baby steps. Also a word of caution about her parenting style (first of all, what was yours all those years of drinking? Was it better?): both parents have a style and neither is bad (unless its abusive). Children learn from each of you important coping skills. Maybe each time you have the desire for the bottle, try reaching out to your W with just a quick call, email or text. Fill those empty spaces with her and see if the love can come back.
