Back In September 2008, I went to the doctors to find out I weighed 199 pounds. I just turned 15 years old and was 5'7". That was the day I knew I must make a change. I dread every going over 200 pounds. Since early October, I've lost almost 30 pounds, and am now down to 171. With all this weight loss, I have not gone down one pant or shirt size. I don't understand where I'm losing the weight for, I see no results other then my face being a tad slimmer. I want to lose an additional 30, my ideal goal weight is to be around 135, 140, like most of my friends are at this height. For some reason I'm having such a difficult time losing anymore weight. I don't know what to eat, I don't know if I'm exercising right, but I hate the body I am in. If anyone has any advice for me on how to exercise or what to eat, that would be so gracious of you. Please help me, thanks :)

Something I have been trying out lately that has made me feel much better about myself, mind and body is hot room yoga. I am not sure where you llive, but I would try out a place called Core Power Yoga. They have many locations. Whenever I leave the class I almost feel lighter because of all the water weight you lose. You burn almost 500 calories in a class that is one hour long. Another thing is to drink a ton of water. Whenever you even think about drinking something, drink water instead.

Do you drink liquor? That could be a large reason you may not be shedding the last 30 lbs. Try not to do any stupid diets like drinking lemon water and honey for a week because that is terrible for your body and is very hard to follow exactly.

I am not sure how much money you have, but try a personal trainer around you. save up some money that way you can go for a three month, three a week training course and let them whip you into shape and tell you what your doing wrong. Most people quit working out because they dont see any difference in their shape so they assume what they are doing is wrong and not working for them.

Give us the specifics of your meal and workout plan.

It seems strange that you have lost 30 pounds and have not noticed any changes other than your face? Instead of just measuring your weight in lbs, try and find your body fat percentage.

I actually found out my body fat percentage today. I'm 5'8, 170 pounds, and body fat % is 34 %, which is not good. I think I started at 39% , though.

Perhaps you could start by telling us what your current diet and exercise regime is.

My diet is basically not a diet at all. Somedays I'll have so much junk food (taco bell, burgers, ice cream, etc.) Other days I'll eat a sandwich and some apples, things like that. I usually go to the gym between 1 to 5 times a week, and stay there for 1 to 2 hours.

How long do you run on the treadmill? An hour a day will melt the pounds off you no matter what you eat. (not saying you should still eat the junk) Also o course the other exercises you need to do to tone up during the weight loss to prevent sagging skin.

You keep losing weight and you will see your clothes size reduce, you just have to be persistent. It should start after that first 30 lbs.

I strongly suggest running. Cardio. You can start at 15 min and keep working up until you reach an hour. or run outside , either way.

Saying that you go to the gym for an hour isn't really helpful. Please explain what you do.

You need to fix that diet. Food is at least half of the battle for weight control.

Can you being anymore vague?

And I calculated your numbers:

200lbs x 39% = 78 lbs of fat

170 x 34% = 58 lbs of fat

So you have lost 20 lbs of fat. Congrats!

But you have lost 30 lbs total. Then you have also probably lost between 5 and 10 lbs of muscle, which is not good. (water weight fluctuates between 1 and 5 lbs)

Join fitday.com and track what you eat everyday.

Create an exercise plan that will help you build muscle. You want a circuit training workout that will exercise your entire body.

Finally, try doing some HIIT cardio.

Devil Inside

I would get a trainer on board. Sure it costs money...but what a better investment could there be. Have the trainer help you clean up your diet...it will make a big difference.

Book a doctor's appointment, see where you're at with them. They can go through healthy diets, and anything which may be slowing or halting your weight loss.

Congrats so far :)

Cut out nearly all of the junk (allow yourself a small treat a day) this will certainly be contributing to the halt, you need to strike a balance. You can't eat crap, and then say oh well, I'll go to the gym, then eat more crap. It's counteractive.

Working out in the morning before breakfast is usually best because that is when your metabolism is at it's highest. (It also gets it out of the way). Mix cardio, with weights. Say go on the treadmill for twenty minutes, at varying speeds (little bursts of energy every now and then to speed your heart rate up), then the bike for a further 10 minutes, and whatever else you like that bursts the cardio. Definitely try using weight training, it's cardio and toning in one. Drink a pint of water first thing in the morning to flush out toxins (make sure it's ice cold because that's when it works best) and also last thing at night.

Get around 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. I actually have a diet plan which is really healthy, and may come of use to you.

Breakfast: one poached egg and grilled tomato.

Mid morning snack:Green salad with spinach and tomato.

Lunch:Grilled chicken breast with green veg, and a little brown rice

Afternoon snack:fruit salad with melon, peaches, oranges, grapes, cranberries, Goji berries and strawberries.

Tea:Tuna Salad with a desert spoon of quinoa.

The theory is that these small meals had 5 times a day, will keep you satisfied and healthy. It's low GI, meaning that the energy from the calories is released slowly throughout the day, and as another plus, it keeps your hair and skin healthy too. :)

i was chubby all through high school, usually around 155. im 5'4". since graduating over 15 years ago i've managed to take off and keep of about 20 lbs. i wish i knew in high school what i know now, and that is that it's all about calories. im telling you, if you count your calories you'll be amazed at your results. you can eat whatever you want (although i find that low carb and low cal together works best for me, and of course eating healthy is always better) but if you keep it from 1200-1500 calories a day (1500 if you go to the gym that day) you'll loose. try it for a week. start by counting the calories you ate the day before. you'll probably be surprised at how high it was. then for a whole week stay within the 1200-1500 range. i think you'll be happy when you step on the scale a week later. it's just a week, give it a shot. it's kind of a hassle at first to write down your calories and figure out how much calories are in everything, but soon you'll find you usually eat the same things and the counting will go a lot quicker.

good luck :)
