What are some of the things you do?

Was just wondering what are some of the things you do with your LDR when they are miles away to keep you closer and keep the excitement alive between visits.

 

We get tired of just talking by phone...so he sings to me sometimes. He loves Karoake and has a great voice.

 

We also ride to work together and I listen to him curse the goofy people on Interstate 5...lol.

 

We send pics taken by our phones at that moment and time. That's like seeing each other.

 

We have dinner sometimes together and he goes down to the beach and calls me so I can hear the waves.

When I was in an LDR, we used to watch movies together - we'd rent the same movie and press Play at the same time so we could watch it together and chat as we watched. There's also loads of stuff you can watch together on YouTube and Google Video. Sometimes we would read together - we would read stories or articles out loud, and we even read whole books together, one chapter per evening. Also we had a shared YouTube channel and Flickr account so we could upload videos and photos for each other, and a shared blog (which didn't work too well because he never posted anything, lol). We played online video games together (Second Life, World of Warcraft) and we played private matches on http://www.omgpop.com

 

Having something physical is a good way to keep your relationship grounded in reality - my bf and I would mail handwritten letters and small items such as coins, fridge magnets, bookmarks etc, and sometimes we would send larger parcels of candy, clothing, soft toys, anything we could think of.

Michael and I write or wrote our story from the beginning through the first two years...I would write my accounting then he would write from his perspective...only thing it got rather intimate...so we had to put it on a site that allowed that...it was rather spicy...lol. But that was awesome! We loved it! It really brought us closer together.

Those all sound great. Well for my boyfriend and I, since we met online on the game Second Life, he takes me on virtual dates on there. I know it may sound kinda corny, but it's really nice lol. It gives us something to do together and it makes me feel alot closer to him. Like today we went to a concert (some guy was streaming live music on the site) and danced the night away. Other things you could do is maybe send each other gifts from time to time and do cam chats/dates. That way you can both see and hear each other at that moment. I know for me it's nice to see and hear my boyfriend everyday before bed. So we always talk on yahoo via cam before we go to bed. Although he usually ends up texting me a few hours later anyway lol.

Yeah we have done that, but we have to be careful because it gets us wanting each other really bad. And with a child in the house we usually have to drive somewhere to do it, but occasionally we do. That one really messes with our emotions alot. Now we do write fantasies...he will write one then I will either enhance on it or I will write another one.

 

Our newest deal is to send a pic with our text instead of just a word text.

 

We can't cam...I live in the foothills of the smokey mountains and I am dial up. Can't do the online games either as everything runs slow for me. I am lucky to get cell service in my kitchen window....lol.

 

Sounds like fun aero...LDR sure makes you think and use your imagination don't they. And btw hun...nothing is goofy about anything you do. Or corny...it's all a matter of how you get through your away moments without really being face to face with each other.

 

I wish when he called my cell that instead of his picture showing, he would acutally appear on screen. THAT would be nice!
