TwinkletOes26
Ok i recently saw an online add(from monster.com) for a human resources assistant position when filing out the application they ask for your social security number. I am uncomfortable about giving that out online id rather give it out in person. Is this wise for places to do..i was always told at my school career center that if a place ask for your ssn online run for the hills. It is the local hospital but im still leery of posting my social security number last thing i need is bad credit as a result of an idenity thief

I've seen this on a handful of job applications. I think they just scan the final one(that they give to people to run background checks and stuff). I just leave it blank. They're not going to run background checks on every one of the thousands of applications they get.

I will just know that is not the position for me bc why would they think someone in this day and age would willy nilly give out their personal info smh:rolleyes:....
Mary3
Noo ....don't give your social security number to them. If you read carefully ( I had this last week ) they ask for it but you can continue the application without it. IF they demand it , no thanks. Not on the internet. If you went personally to HR in the building and filled that info out it might be a different story
Author TwinkletOes26
ok hank yall i just dont get why a upstanding well known state hospital would ask for that kind of info on the interwebs LOL:lmao:..maybe they think bc ppl r desperate for work they have lost brain cells
nobody's girl
Yeah, whenever possible I type in the field "will not provide online." Otherwise, if it absolutely requires a number, I type in 000-00-0000 or 123-45-6789 so there's at least numbers in the field and the application goes through. I've found that in a lot of cases, even after filling out an application online, if I get an interview they ask me to fill out a paper application too. So I just make sure to put the correct number on the paper applicatin.
