A few days ago I woke up and something was weird. My left hand was really weak, and I could hardly move it. It didn't hurt. but I just couldn't pick anything up. It just flopped. I couldn't bend my fingers back or anything. It was pretty much paralysed. Now it is 4 days later and it has improved, but only slightly. I just don't know whats wrong with it!!! I'm guessing I slept awkwardly on a nerve or something, but it still scares me. It's the most unpleasant feeling ever trying to move a part of your body and it just won't obey you.

I played basketball today for my team and I just couldn't use that hand. I couldnt hold the ball, or throw it. I played pretty well with my remaining hand but I'm so worried about my left hand now. I still can barely move it!!!!! All of the info on the net doesn't help at all, nothing relates to my problem. Has anyone had any problems like this before?? I;m really scared, but my parents don't want to take me to a doctor because they think it is going to be just fine..

Ugh just feels like my whole body is failing me, with my weak ligaments in my legs, to my increasing gray hairs, and now this.

Dude, I have slept on my arm and woke up with it dead before, but that goes away after a few hours !!! that does NOT sound like what you have (only getting slightly better after several days ??) that sounds like a problem I would be running to my doctor to discuss, now !!!

how old are you ? and why would your parents not be concerned about this paralysis after several days ??? could you not just go to the doctor on your own anyway ??

I could go I suppose, but I have no money and they have the Medicare cards etc. They said it would probably get better and I didn't need to pay a doctor to tell me that. My mum did say we would go in a few days though if it didn't get better by then.

They do have a point I guess, cause it is improving. I can actually pick up bottles now (albeit with a quavering arm) and it takes a lot of effort but I can still sort of do it. My dad said a similar thing happened to his leg, but he actually did pinch a nerve and the doctor told him that and he was in quite a bit of pain. I have no pain at all though, it just woke up dead one morning!!!

The main thing I'm worried about is what if permanent physical damage has occured and I never get the full use of my hand back.
