Would you be embarrassed?

Recommended Posts

To introduce your girlfriend to your friends if she was chubby? Like 5'6" inches tall and 170 pounds. (Not sure how big that is considered if it is considered average/chubby/fat/obese to you guys)

Or if a buddy introduced his gf to you and she was that size, would you make fun of him for it?

I'll tell the background to this story after I get replies!

Yes. I would be embarrassed. And I hate to say it, 'cause it makes me sound like an a**hole. But that's one of the several reasons I wouldn't date an overweight chick. Just like some girls wouldn't date me, 'cause I'm like 5'6".

To me 5'6" and 170 is chubby. Not fat, not obese. But needs to shed 20 pounds.

To answer your second question, of course I wouldn't make fun of my friend if he had a chubby GF. But I WOULD wonder, why doesn't he pick on someone his own size?

Bad joke.

Well I'm a girl. I've dated a couple guys who were on the chubby side. Didn't bother me at all to introduce them to my friends - if I were embarrassed by something like that (ie being judged by my friends for something stupid and trivial like that) I'd probably have to get new friends. True friends would be happy I was happy. Likewise they wouldn't make fun of me for dating someone who did look like they thought he should?

*To be completely honest: I have had friends tell me I could do better - only in situations where I had confided in them about issues in the relationship and they were trying to show support. In a case like that my friends probably would see weight as open to criticism.

If she's good enough to be your girlfriend, she is good enough to introduce to your friends. If you are ashamed of her, break up.

Anyway, I like chubby girls, and if any of my friends would make mean-spirited jokes about her, he better watch out ;)

Any MAN who is so shallow as to be embarassed because of his GF's weight, doesn't deserve a GF of any size.

Why be with someone you're embarrassed to be with, regardless of size, how they dress, how they act, how they speak, for whatever reason? Anyone you're with, you should think is the cat's meow, whether anyone else thinks so, who cares.

 No boldjack. A friend gave the avvy to me a long time ago for many other reasons, so I put it up in celebration of our disposable society.

I have to say that people who are critical of their SOs, shouldn't be with that person.

Romance, i think YOU know the answer yourself. You'd almost convinced me you were trolling... Anyway, I wouldn't make fun, that's just me. But i can't speak for my typical jerk friends who would make fun behind closed doors. They find it hilarious! Which is ironic considering they're actually bigger.

I wouldn't be surprised if they make fun behind my back too. But it doesn't bother me as long as they don't say it to my face.

If you think her weight is an issue then break up with her.

As someone who has been overweight I would be heartbroken to learn that my boyfriend was embarrassed to introduce me to his friends.

Plus if your friends don't like your gf based on her weight then they aren't very good/nice friends are they?

No one get mad at me for this! haha, I am not even a male! But my friend Leanne said she was sooo scared to meet her bf's friends because she's a little chubby and she thought they'd make fun of her behind her back..and I thought that was so absurd..like, youre their friends gf, as long as you're nice to them, that'd be so terrible..but then again guys are jerks (sometimes! haha)

Yeah, well if her boyfriend's friends feel that way then they are a-holes and he shouldn't be friends with him.

Guys can be jerks though so I would not be surprised at all if a guy were to make fun of his buddie's gf for being chubby.

But honestly, if her bf is a nice guy would he really chose to hang out with a-holes such as that? I think it's about having faith in who you are dating.
