strange situation?

I started dating this girl at the begining of the summer (two ish months ago). She had just gotten out of a serious relationship a month or so before we started dating. We took it slow because we both thought that there was something good here and we didnt want to rush it. Well the summer ended and we had grown very close. Im going to school close to home but she is starting her first year in college away from home. In a nutshell she told me she cared for me very much, but was still not ready for a commited relationship. I told her i would wait for her. So she moves into her dorm two and a half ish hours away from where i live. i can make regular trips down and have made one already. We are pretty open with each other, so while we were talking on the phone tonight she tells me she had made out with another guy just a day or so after i had left from my visit. It hurt me because i know i could not have kissed another girl, and hadnt even thought of other girls while she was gone. Now here is the strange part. After telling me this she says that she is sorry and knows now that she wants a commited relationship. She says that by making out with this guy she has realized how special i am to her. She says her relationship with the other kid she hooked up with is meaningless and that i am what she wants. We were only dating so "technically" she was allowed to do whatever she wants. I finally have the girl i want but i just dont know if i can trust her. especially if she is living so far away.....
