The euphemism "got lucky"...... Does it only apply to men???? And why????

I think you''ll have to ask Mr Lucky... :)

I don't think so at all. I've told a few girlfriends that I'm going to "get lucky" this evening. We all know what it means (and after my long dry spell, is a welcome relief!)

I think the expression says more about how society views men and women as opposed to how men and women really think and feel.

I think that both men and woman enjoy sex the same and some might feel "lucky" to get some (if it is hard for them to get any) while others feel it is easy to get some so the term "lucky" makes no sense to them.

Now, I think a woman would be more likely to be offended if people said she was "lucky" to get some because she would more likely to feel this was a reflection of her looks/desirability. Most men aren't so focused on their looks. IMO, they think of sex as something they get as opposed to attract. I'm not sure if this makes sense. Just my 2 cents anyway.

You rang  ???

I do consider myself fortunate that, after 20+ years, I am part of a reasonably well-oiled (pun intended!) marraige. It's not the "every day and twice on Sundays" that some lay claim to, but in my mid-50's 2X a week is great.

And yes, I do tell my wife I got lucky...

It applies only to men because women control how much sex there is or will be. :D

Of course..... I asked a rhetorical question and am always surprised at some women screaming that it is not the case...... For a woman like CarrieT to say she got lucky to girlfriends seems more a reflection and joke that the shoe is on the other foot and is just tongue in cheek as they know it is not a huge deal to get a man to go to bed with them.... Moreso it is a joke that is said by married men all the time as they deem it getting "lucky" to have sex with their spouse of all people....

Isn't there a joke that says "Women must be psychic, they always know when we're going to have sex..." ?

To say a woman got 'lucky' to me implies that she usually isn't.

Don't get it;)..... Honestly explain to me how she usually isn't (especially in a marriage, which is where it is generally used)????

was your wife using this line... and what context was it being used? was she talking with a friend and you heard something she didn't expect you to hear?

btw - i used the term when i was married... when i knew my H was in a good mood and sex was on the agenda for the day...

not married now - so - i use the term now when i know i'm going to get laid.

I dunno. I can't quite put my finger on it. It just strikes me in a negative sense in terms of a woman where it doesn't for a man.

That I get.... For a woman to use it, it reeks and desperation and is negative..... For a man it sort of seems too much the norm.....

Since a woman should have control, then yes, it does seem abnormal. Since a woman has control, then yes for a man it is the norm.

Why should a woman have control?

Why should a woman have control?

Mr. Lucky

Because when a man imposes himself on a woman...even his wife...and she does not want it, we call it rape.

A man can withhold from a woman, but he cannot push himself on her. While the reverse is also true, it usually does not happen.

In reality, the person who controls the amount of sex in a relationship, is the one who wants it the least.

I guess I didn't equate control to a lack of acquiescence to force. Although I'd agree that rape where a female is the agressor could be problematic...
