lupa
Right, well, this is me in a bit a bit of a flap! I start uni in 12 hours! Am a bit nervous, help! I know, I know, I will be ok, is first day nerves is all.............. arrrghhhh. Lisa, you will be fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and if you do not understand something, MAKE SURE YOU DO EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER UNTIL YOU GET IT. I've seen people actually completely flush an entire semester right down the drain because they were embarrassed to admit something didn't make sense. Other than that...you are there to learn, nothing else. Who cares about everyone else? Also, my best advice to give is find a faculty member (preferably not your own professor, but someone in the dept) that you can be friends with/have them mentor you. I missed a prime opportunity at Harvard to do this, even though this prof showed interest in a lot of the things I talked about. Probably could have had an ever richer experience if I was smart enough back then. So, learn from my mistake! Now go out there with all you've got and win one for the Gipper! Author LisaUk
Thanks MayI! Thanks Lup's! Lup's, I have no problem asking when I don't understand, the professors at my last uni for my undergrad degree were great in that respect. Had a real problem getting to grips with Factor Analysis! Never used it since, HA! Will take on board all of your advice, from a Harvard Grad no less! Thanks. (*mumbles to self* You b*****y a hole ex, all the stress and s**t I'm going through, errrrrrrr) Will be worth it, I'm sure.
tojaz
Lisa, If you attack uni with half the dedication and focus you give to the people here, you'll be at the top of the class in no time! You shouldn't be worried at all, your classmates should be worried about you! Knock 'em dead sweetie!! TOJAZ
Author LisaUk
Hi all Thanks Tojaz, I appreciate that! Just got back from uni, the induction/enrollment finished early, so I have spent the majority of the day in the pub with some others from my course! It's gonna be great! Good times! :p Everyone (who I met) on the course seems nice, there are a lot of 21 year olds, quite a few 23 year olds, went to the pub with some 23 year olds and a 27 year old. Other than me, there is another women aged 35/36 years old, housewife with 2 kids and a man in his late 40's. Even the younger ones I met seem mature for their age and were very accepting of me, they understood my nerves about returning to education after an 11 year gap, which was good. Got the train home with one of them as well. Will be in lectures with the undergrads though! Perhaps I should bag me an 18 year old, to honour mine and the ex's 18 year relationship?! JUST KIDDING! Not sure about being top of the class Tojaz, there are some very intelligent people, including a Cambridge graduate! May have to befriend him hey? Always good to get in with the smart people! LOL Not in again for a while now, put tons of pre course work to do and a presentation to prepare. Was bad enough today, just doing the whole "Hi my name is...I graduated in...from....university with a degree in Psychology etc" Freshers week 14th September, looking forward to the partying and I already have a friends place to crash at! As for the ex? Well, he can shove it! Good times ahead, I hope!

2.50 a gallon
Lisa Now you are getting it, get out there. Soon there will be so many men trying to get your attention that the ex will have to take a reservation just to get at the back of the line. The ex, oh yeah I kind of remember this weasal I used to date. That was a long time and a different life time ago Also consider for your studies, practising flirting. My ex fiance admitted how in her younger days she would stand in front of a mirror and practise her eye flirting. Start with the demure shy eye flirt, where you briefly catch his eye for just a second, hold his gaze for a second, flash your eyelids a couple of times, then quickly, shyly look away, only to be drawn back to his eyes again, and repeat the eye flirt again. It sure ate me up. Go Girl Go, we are on you side

Author LisaUk
hell yes!!!!! go for it all lisa. including the 18 year old. Well seeing as how you have given me permission MayI! Actually there is a REALLY nice guy on my course, but he's only 21 he spoke to me for a about 30 seconds while we waited in line for a PC, I nearly died how sad am I? In all seriousness I think anyone under 28 is a bit too young for me. Besides an 18 or 21 year old is hardly likely to be interested in an oldie like me. Don't know about the toga, but footsy 100 every thursday in the SU! Yay!
Author LisaUk
Besides, it's all academic, I'm no where near ready for a relationship, with anyone.
2.50 a gallon
Who said anything about a relationship? Nothing wrong with a pizza, beer, movie and some smooching. Even the 18 year old. The truth be told, most guys over 30 would jump at the chance to smooch with an 18 year old. If it is good enough for the guys it should be good enough for the girls.
