LaDiva
Good Morning LS! The sun is out, the birds are chirping, and yet I have a grave weight on my left hand! I'm engaged to be married ya'll! hi! Okay... so I have a question... what is the best way to propose on picking a date? I would like to get married on September 4, 2010 which is keeping in tune with our dating anniversary... and is a Saturday, Or I could even go for February 14, which is a Sunday... How can I bring it up to him in a way that sounds appeasing? If he can be committal about giving me the ring, he can commit to a date right?

Lauriebell82
Ask your fiance if he has thought of a date yet? What kind of wedding do you want? I suggest start looking at venues now if you are planning on doing that because places fill up fast. Our date got dictated by the place we want to have our wedding..so in essense we couldn't pick our own date in order to have our wedding there. Just talk to your fiance and give him suggestions. Island Girl
After my husband and I decided to get married the date was a challenge. In the end it was more important to him that it was on his birthday. He really wanted that date and it just worked out that it was a Thursday that next year (it HAD to be a Thursday). I was just trying to settle on a date and he really wanted that one specifically - so we got married on his birthday. He is happy - as he says he gets two presents every year (and he said "he got the best birthday present in the world" when I became his wife -- yep - awww ) but more importantly -- He'll never for get our anniversary!! Wow, good plan, that's so sweet!!! Hopefully my fiance will be able to remember our wedding anniversary. He gets our dating one mixed up, it was actually yesterday (3 years!!) He tries to remember it because it's "September 7th" and it's a double "s." He sometimes mixes it up and thinks it's September 17. I quiz him just to torment him.
laRubiaBonita
it might be easier to pick a venue with dates in mind.... some sights have a wait list. IG- my H and i got married the day after his Bday, which was also the date his grandfather passed away, his grandmother thought i was such a great memorial to him.

Stung
I liked offbeatbrides.com, but then I'm not much for more traditional weddings. As for dates, Feb. 14 is a nice idea but will be difficult to book, as it's also a very popular idea. My fiance and I chose to have our wedding on the date we already celebrate as the anniversary of our first real date. It was a sentimental choice, but also a practical one, as it gave us several months to plan something without dragging on for too long (I don't have the patience to wait until 2011 for sure, kudos to you if you do), and the weather in our area is beautiful that time of year (we are having it outdoors). Also it doesn't coincide with any big holidays or anything we'd have to plan around, and it's slightly off-season so we got a little discount when we rented three cabins for a family mini-moon on the seashore. Anyway, that mix of sentimentality and practicality worked for us because that's what we're like as a couple...you need to figure out what works best for the two of you. Are you more concerned about romance or budget? Do you need to plan around the Superbowl, Fashion Week? And go ahead and ask for his input. He's already proposed, this is the natural next step. You don't have to go full-blown into planning craze yet but setting a date and starting to think about the venue is important.
