if I were you i would do it occasionally....but thats my opinion

cause for example, everytime you see your bf/gf you call them baby or sweetie, it might get repetitive and boring to use it everytime right and making the word feel not so special.

i mean the first few times its great hearing it and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy and happy, but doing it too often will just kill the moment.

I really don't think this is that big of a deal. Just do what makes YOU comfortable. You shouldn't put rules on what you say with someone you have been dating...you should be able to say whatever you want and call them whatever you want!

As long as it feels comfortable, go for it.

In my last relationship, my ex and I VERY rarely called each other by our real names. It was usually honey or sweetie or baby or whatever, and I never had a problem with it.

In fact, one time I said, "We never use our names," so we tried using our names in our conversation and we both grimaced and I said, "Wow, that sounds weird," and she agreed.

I'm a sucker for private nicknames between couples and even friends. Once it's established...I always use it.

The biggest benefit to using pet names is you'll avoid the inevitable- calling your bf by a prior bf's name. :D

I'm in the same boat as you...I call my new boyfriend of only one month babe...and he says sweety to me every now and then, but i just say it because i feel so comfortable with it...my last relationship we said it all the time because it was so natural...maybe thats just how I am though...I say if it makes you feel good, go for it

I think you need to get their feeling on it, but in my current relationship we love that sort of stuff. It becomes more profound when we actually use each other's names.

having cute lil name for one another i think is a part of a relationship! ive never been in one where we used our names! its always baby, sweetie, darling, hunny, there is even others like when joking around we would call each other chucky! i think cute lil names for one another gives meaning and makes you feel special!

I totally agree with you guys. do whatever makes you feel comfortable. My bf and I both call each other baby or sometimes i call him sweetie or precious. It DOES give meaning to your relationship, someone there to love you and care about you. Just dont push it to call him something cute, do what is natural and he will appreciate it. But you could also ask him like "do you like when i call you ***?" (fill in the *** with your nickname) see what he says.... some guys like it and some dont. I think its more of a girl thing to call others by pet names and such.

Good luck.

I love it, I think it's cute. It's when she uses my name that I get the warm fuzzy feeling that you described.

I agree with everyone else - just go with what feels natural. Personally, and I don't know why, I prefer when men use my real name, so it's different for everyone. I think nicknames are nice if they're maybe a private joke, or personal - something different. However, I hate being called names like sweety or honey by men, I think it just feels anonymous and fake. I have no idea why I feel that way. Just me.

The point is, everyone is different, there's no way we could tell you how often a cute name is appropriate. If you feel like calling him honey, then do! Just be yourself! :D
