longlegzs80
I want and want to learn more on how to get confidence in oneself. Sometimes I have it I think I do anyways, and other times I feel like I don't have it which is most of the time. Before the NEW YEARS TIME, I want to feel good about myself and possibly talk to this boy at work that I have told you about in another thread. I really think he is into me and we talked the other day, but he picked a bad day to talk to me because I wasn't feeling good about myself and felt really really ugly. That feeling of being ugly and oh wooo is me has to stop and by christmas time or by new years, I want this guys number and feel confident in myself before hand when I get it. I just want to know how I can do it without being fake about it. I know guys go after girls with confidence and I want to be one of them who has it. So, if anyone can give me advice on how to feel good about myself and get the confidence I need, I would really appreicate it. SARAH
Tony T
Well, I can say for certain that if you follow the Yellow Brick Road it will lead to the Wizard. If he helped the lion get courage, the tin man get a heart, and the scarecrow get courage, he can surely fetch up some confidence for you. Meanwhile, by virtue of the authority vested in me as a moderator of LoveShack.org, E. Pluribus Unum habius corpus delecti, I hereby present you with full, ample and official certification that you are a candidate in good standing for all the confidence you need to do anything you may ever want to do including, but not limited to, getting the phone number of any male on the Planet Earth. If you see the wicked witch along the way, tell her to kiss my butt!
mattdad
Use successes from your past to build your confidence for the future. I faced an incredible challenge recently and had doubts I'd make it... Then reminded myself that Nov. 5th was the fifth anniversery of quitting smoking. I decided that if I could accomplish that I could accomplish anything!! So far so good...
HokeyReligions
This may sound trite - or like a bad SNL sketch, but it does work. When you are feeling good write down some positives about yourself. They can be accomplishments, physical characteristics, past successes, anything good that you have done, participated in, learned from, etc. Keep this list where you can refer to it when you are feeling down and remind yourself of them. Think about how and why you felt good about them before. If you are having a 'bad hair day' and feel down about that - look at your list and focus on something positive. If you have to refer to it periodically thru the day -- do it. In one of my many jobs I had my team write down a word or short sentence about everyone else on the team. It had to be something positive, something they liked about the other person. These were all anonymous and I gathered them together and made little posters for everyone. We all kept them on our desks so that if we were feeling stressed or unappreciated or something at work, we could look at those lists and know that others saw our good points. It was a great boost for everyone. Management saw one on someones desk and asked what it way and she just smiled and said "oh something that doesn't mean anything to anyone but me" and that's what we all would say as our "posters" were being noticed. If you have a group of friends, or a team that you work with, this might be something fun for all of you to do. Its a gift that we gave to each other and to ourselves. Some days when I feel out of sorts, uncomfortable in my clothes, bad hair, didn't get my makeup right, broke a nail, etc. I have decided that I will smile more so that people wouldn't notice my hair or clothes, etc. they would notice my smile. Funny thing is -- no one but me has ever really noticed that my makeup, hair, etc. was "below par" anyway!
