I agree with the first part, but IME lots of people still haven't learned the second one... :):lmao::p

And you'd think they'd have that one ingrained since it is a much more dangerous venture! :p

Let's just hope they don't give me any reason to argue...I'm not sure of my patience level at this point.

Maybe this time next year I'll be able to post about how much he is irritating me being constantly underfoot! Hee Hee.

I'm so looking forward to those posts about him being underfoot. Knowing you, it will be reason for affection, rather than distress! ;)

sb, notice I've stopped disagreeing with you lately? You're ready to pop any minute!!

I am hardly a threat through a computer though, am I?

Am not being TOTALLY irrational with every post...

I wish my H had mastered that a while ago- he is pretty much there now, but it took 9 months!

No no. I wouldn't argue with you simply because I adore you and don't want you or WonderBaby to have any reason to feel stress. :D

I'm sure it is the same for TBF.

And TBF - yes, I adore him even when he is being a complete jackass.

He can frustrate me and infuriate me like no one else on the planet but he is the air I breathe even in those moments.

I already knew about this good news :) But I had to smile when I read this post here because I relate to it so well (as you know). I'm gonna log in sis.

glad to hear the gripey-wifey character is getting much deserved attention/respect, keep it up, IG!

meanwhile, I'll ask St. Jude to give y'all a bit of pull, he's my general go-to guy ;)

Spirit of the Ocean

I'm a bit late I know, but oh IG, this is such such good news!! You must be so excited!!! I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you and your husband, it's really about time!!!

You know, I can understand how some countries have strict immigration laws, but your situation is just ridiculous! I mean, he's your HUSBAND for goodness sake and has been for the last 6? was it year! Surely if all he wanted was to get into the country he would have given up by now. I really hope everything works out and soon, we all know how much the two of you deserve it. I'm excited for the day you post a new thread titled "He got his visa!" :)

All the very very best IG!

p.s.- hope your husband is feeling much better now. I'm sure this news would also have a positive effect on his health and his spirits :)

Thank you so much!!

Yes I am excited but I am trying really hard to keep in mind there could very well be something else. If I don't keep myself ready for it I know it would just cut me off at the knees.

It really IS about time! Sheeezus!!

Well, he has been my husband for three years. Only since 2006.

But when we submitted proof of the relationship the details go back to early 2001 and we showed we lived together all of 2002 as well. Then we had proof from the years since - that we have maintained contact and been together the entire time.

Yes, if all he wanted was to get out of the country he is in he could have ended it with me and pursued someone else from NZ or Australia. It would have been a lot easier for him to go there - even his family could have sponsored him from those countries.

Immigration is just ridiculous in general.

Thank you and yes, he has been feeling better but this news sent him over the moon!!! :bunny::bunny::bunny:

I know very little about the hell you are dealing with in trying to get your hubby back, but it sounds like the process and the paperwork has been just horrid. I really cannot imagine. You amaze me - your always in such great spirits! I wish the best to you.. I truly hope the time sails by until you two are reunited! :bunny:

Oh thank you HM. Yes the process has been horrible - the time extended due to erroneous information, the passing of new laws (the embassy used these to change the filing venue yet they never took effect!), amongst other things like a coup in Fiji and the first ever riot in his country (the only major city was devastated and has yet to be rebuilt in any way).

So that has been the hell I have been dealing with for just over three years now.

The brighter side is that I have found the love of my life and through the distance we have built a truly remarkable relationship.

That be a bright side for anyone I would think so we consider ourselves lucky.

I just joke with him that we'll have plenty of time together after this for him to get on my last reserve nerve and we have married couple bickering and bantering to look forward to for the rest of our lives.

I told him he should enjoy the peace and serenity that fill his days because he'll have a lifetime of nothing like it when he gets here!

And of course I am joking but we DO anticipate some growing pains when we are finally reunited and live under one roof again.

In the grand scheme of things if we end up living to an old age we'll have 30 to 40 years together so what's five or 6 in the long run? A mere drop in the bucket!

Crossing everything for you IG!! You are one brave woman to go through all of this. I hope this is finally the light at the end of the tunnel for you. I'm sure when it finally comes through, we'll hear the screams of delight all around the world :):bunny::bunny:

Just to add more well-wishes and crossing of the fingers (and toes... and eyes...). I don't know the whole situation (and it sounds like a saga!) but any movement in the right direction sounds like something to pin hope onto. I hope the ball keeps rolling - and quickly - so you can switch over to those everyday grumbles ;-)

It's too late now but if anyone else is thinking of importing a special someone it's worth noting that the K-1 (fiancee visa) queue is reportedly a lot shorter than the spousal visa queue.

This is absolutely true.

We couldn't go through this process (much MUCH easier). He would have been denied a K-1 visa because of an overstay when he was here before.

It's my understanding that a K-1 can be extended and then later, converted, but I've never gone through the process.

Glad things are picking up for you.

To clarify for anyone out there reading this and thinking of going through this process:

The K-1 is applied for, (in most cases) received, then there is a 90 day period where a wedding MUST take place (or the potential spouse has to go back to their home country) and then the I-130 spousal petition is filed.

There is the entire process of the I-130 petition but the spouse is already here in the US and the interview, etc. is all completed here in the US.

(As alpha pointed out this process can be very long - he applied for his then wife and 2.5 years later when they divorced and she went back to Canada it still had not come through - Immigration SUCKS .)

Once the I-130 petition is approved the next filing to Adjust Status is applied for just shy of the two year anniversary to convert the visa to a permanent resident green card which is up for renewal every 10 years.

Thanks for the well wishes clv!

IG, I can't imagine going through what you've been through. I'm not as strong as you, and cannot imagine ever having the sort of relationship that would survive what you've experienced. That's luuuuurrrrvvvveeee for ya.:bunny:

I can't wait for the "He's here, he's finally here!" thread!

Thank you SG!!

I really can't wait as well -- and neither can he really. It is HARD -- very very HARD.

Harder when things like the tsunami happen -- I have another thread dealing with this. It is so sucky I don't have enough foul explanatives to describe it even if it were possible to post them. :(:mad::mad:

Hopefully all is still well as far as all of the paperwork and us being right on track.

One other thing, before the first 90 day clock starts ticking. Once the K-1 is granted it's my understanding that the 90 day clock is not ticking, the visa has (IIRC) a 6 month validity. Once your honey enters the US on the K-1, the mentioned 90 day clock starts and after that it's like IG said.
