Devil Inside

For gaining lean muscle mass what works well for you?

I use whey protein, glutamine, creatine, multivitamin, and fish oil because they are proven to do something.

Anything else work?

When we find ourselves lacking time or energy to cook or in other ways prepare meals that would give us enough nutrition for building our bodies we often find supplements pretty lucrative.

The problem is that the supplements are not chemically built in the same way that nutrition from nature is, so your body does not react in the same way - if it even reacts at all - it would were you to eat food from nature. A lot of the vitamin supplements even goes straight through the body without any effect whatsoever.

Supplements can even be dangerous as vitamin d in milk has proved to be. Vitamin D is added in milk as a supplement, but the effect is negative because it actually weakens the bones rather than strengthening them.

The point is, natural food is the best way to go, even if you want to build muscles. I would look into raw food, it's easy, saves time, and actually improves a lot of the problems builders have.

I hoped it helped,

Kamobo

1. Find the professional gym.

2. Use heavy weights - train with intensity.

3. Take enough rest.

4. Train each muscle group ones a week.

5. Proper diet. Eat plenty of protein and fresh natural foods.

Not much but all important points.

Try adding some casein protein in addition to the whey. Otherwise, it looks like you are taking all of the important supps.

What's your diet look like?

deux ex machina

In gaining lean mass, the most important thing is adequate rest, in my experience.

Make sure you are getting that.

If you are just starting out, I would recommend starting with your diet. Pre-cook your meals on the weekends. Store them in the fridge and freezer. Lots of chicken breast, green veggies, boiled and scrabbled eggs, oats, fish, yogurt, bananas, and so forth.

I have found if you add raw oats to your protein shake, it adds some slow burning carbs and keeps you fuller longer. Take two scoops of protein powder, two scoops of oats, and the recommended amount of milk, place in a shaker, and shake. Let it sit for a few minutes to let the milk soak into the oats. It is really not that bad.

I use Muscle Milk light. It helps me cut down the amount of food I eat and gives me energy to exercise. That will help you burn fat/calories and help build lean muscle.

The other variation is regular Muscle Milk. My fiance uses that, however it is more suited for those who are body building and doing intense weight training at the gym. It has a lot more calories, fat, and carbs then the light version. Creatine does the same thing.

If you are looking to build LEAN muscle mass I would use regular Muscle Milk or Muscle Milk light (depending on whether or not you are watching calories or trying to lose/maintain weight).

I eat fairly clean.

Mostly whole and unprocessed food. Lots of lean protein...chicken, fish, leaner cuts of beef. Lots of fruits and veggies. Whole grains in moderation. A ton of water.

I do have days I cheat and splurge...but for the most part I eat pretty clean.

Couldn't agree more on the oats. Every morning I throw down a shake...whey protein, oats, banana and/or strawberry, and milk. I usually am good to go until lunch easy.

I saw the MMA fighter Rich Franklin drink this on a special. Heck..he's got to be doing something right.

If I could recommend any one thing to take, it would be amino acid chains. Fish oil and non-soy whey are good too. But amino acids are where it's at. Just make sure you get the right kind.

Yeah, about 35-40 pounds probably. The stuff really does work. The biggest thing it does is kill my appetite so I don't feel the urge to constantly "snack" on junk. I do make sure I eat smaller meals in addition.

The best way to lose/maintain weight and keep lean muscle is to eat 5 or 6 times a day and not just 3 huge meals. Plus muscle milk gives you energy to burn more calories and revs up your metobolism.

I honestly can't eat HALF of what I used to. The stuff really works well.

I heard creatine works the best. Synthetic protein can only do so much. You should also get organic protein from fish and meat so your body doesn't rely too much on shakes and man made products.
