Posted pictures of him on my blog he was upset

Recommended Posts

Okay on Tuesday morning I get a phone from my ex friend.

We had been friends for seven years but a few months ago everything basically fell apart in June 2009.

We didn't talk from June 2009 to late September 2009. He's pissed at me because in June I said I wanted to "move on with my life."

Yet when I saw him last week in late September 2009 he basically said he wanted to "move on" as well.

Then he said "why didn't you call me for four months."

And I said " I actually didn't call you for three months because I didn't know what to say to you."

So I left and went home.

We are both gay but I am out of the closet and he's in the closet.

For over a week I had pictures of us on my blog.

However, maybe I must admit I could of been wrong to post the photos on my blog?

I just didn't think he would of "went" to my blog to see the photos?

The last time I saw him was last week Friday and he said he's pretty

"angry" at him for the way I treated him in June 2009.

I just feel he's being so biased he says I "hurt him" yet he "hurt me" as well.

Anyway, the pictures on my blog are of us together but they are non sexual pictures.

For instance, one picture is simply of our faces close together, another picture is of us hugging. And a third picture is him putting his arms around me. Nothing sexual. Although there is one picture I am kissing him on his cheek.

Well he called me up and he said "those are my pictures from my blackberry. I saved them on my blackberry."

I said "they are my pictures too you gave them to me."

Next he says "you can put pictures of yourself on your blog but I don't want my photo on your blog."

I said "the photos are sentimental."

He said " I want my photos off of your blog."

I just didn't know how to respond to him.

I should also say he doesn't have problems with photos of himself on facebook. I know for a fact facebook is much more popular then my blog.

Anyway, I was surprised because I just didn't think he would visit my blog.

I took the photos down with him in the pictures because I guess I should of known better.

But I feel like why did he give me the photos in the first place? He gave me the photos so can't I do whatever I want with them?

Also, there are tons of photos on his facebook page with people. Why does he care about my little blog that has way less traffic

then facebook?

You are right...it would have been wise of you to first get his permission to put his photos on your blog. And you acted properly in taking them down when he asked.

It sounds...maybe your blog is more personal than your/his Facebook pages, and perhaps he has fears about people "figuring out" his sexual orientation from your blog but not from Facebook. Or perhaps the content of your blog would make it more clear...in his mind if not in reality.

Yeah, there's also other crap going on between you that perhaps exacerbated this situation. But my guess is that he's not ready to come out yet, and he saw those pics on your blog as a threat to that. I suspect that, having once been there yourself, you do have understanding.

He does, though, have the authority to say where his image/likeness gets posted and how it gets used. In most jurisdictions, he would also have legal rights. Doesn't really matter if he chooses to put those exact same pics on his Facebook or the cover of a porn video -- you don't have the same rights to his image/likeness as he does, even if you took the pics yourself. That's why photogs have contracts with their models, and why the paparazzi do get sued.

Hi thanks for the clairification and information. I guess I just thought that facebook is much more popular than my blog. But I see your point.
