It's ok, I sang it right back to him....with the best of intentions of course. Before my Grandmother got so bad with Altzheimers, she offered to bury him in mason jars all over the county for me. Had I known that she was going to get this disease, I would have gladly taken her up on that offer....can't give testimony if you can't remember anything right?

Mine are bittersweet.

 

You might recognize them if you like Rod Stewarts Great American Songbook. Seripendipity put two of my favorites together.

 

The Way You Look Tonight by Kern and Fields, an Academy Award winner from... 1936 ! My very favorite version is by James Darren. Some believe it's the most beautiful song ever written... don't know about that but it's my taste.

 

They Can't Take That Away From Me from 1937 by the undisputed genius George Gershwin. Covered by everyone, lately Diana Krall and Rod Stewart. I like Frank Sinatra and (again) James Darrens version....

 

Then there is God Only Knows by Brian Wilson, The Beach Boys finest song, on what many critic's believe is the finest musical composition of the 20th Century Pet Sounds (1965). Dennis Wilsons lead, and Brian soaring across the top.. perfect harmony.
