Not his birthday yet, but it's getting close, and I do promise that I will stop posting this song after the 15th, but until then...Billy goes to the top, for being there for me, for that quiet comfort he knew I needed, by knowing that being a best friend and loving someone was simply sitting there in an old porch-swing and never having to say a thing, just give quiet comfort. Even in death, you are still the center of my world!

You may think that I'm talkin' foolish

You've heard that I'm wild and I'm free

You may wonder how, I can promise you now

This love that I feel for you always will be

But you're not just time that I'm killin'

I'm no longer one of those guys

As sure as I live, this love that I give

Is gonna be yours until the day that I die

Oh, baby! I'm gonna love you forever, forever and ever, Amen!

As long as old men sit n' talk about the weather

As long as old women sit n' talk about old men

If you wonder how long I'll be faithful

I'll be happy to tell you again

I'm gonna love you forever and ever, forever and ever, Amen!

They say that time takes it's toll on a body

Makes a young girl's brown hair turn gray

But, honey, I don't care, I ain't in love with your hair

And if it all fell out, well, I'd love you anyway

They say time can play tricks on a memory

Make people forget things they knew

Well, it's easy to see, it's happenin' to me

I've already forgotten every woman but you

Oh, darlin'! I'm gonna love you forever, forever and ever, Amen!

As long as old men sit n' talk about the weather

As long as old women sit n' talk about old men

If you wonder how long I'll be faithful

Well, just listen to how this song ends

I'm gonna love you forever and ever, forever and ever, Amen!

I'm gonna love you forever and ever, forever and ever

Forever and ever, forever and ever, Amen!

Always my hero, my love and the closest man that I have ever had to a brother and a protector...my love always for you Billy.

Ignorance

Paramore

If I'm a bad person, you don't like me

Well I guess I'll make my own way

It's a circle

A mean cycle

I can't excite you anymore

Where's your gavel? Your jury?

What's my offense this time?

You're not a judge but if you're gonna judge me

Well sentence me to another life

Don't wanna hear your sad songs

I don't wanna feel your pain

When you swear it's all my fault

Cause you know we're not the same

We're not the same

Oh we're not the same

Yeah the friends who stuck together

We wrote our names in blood

But I guess you can't accept that the change is good

It's good

It's good

Well you treat me just like another stranger

Well it's nice to meet you sir

I guess I'll go

I best be on my way out

You treat me just like another stranger

Well it's nice to meet you sir

I guess I'll go

I best be on my way out

Ignorance is your new best friend

Ignorance is your new best friend

This is the best thing that could've happened

Any longer and I wouldn't have made it

It's not a war no, it's not a rapture

I'm just a person but you can't take it

The same tricks that, that once fooled me

They won't get you anywhere

I'm not the same kid from your memory

Well now I can fend for myself

Don't wanna hear your sad songs

I don't wanna feel your pain

When you swear it's all my fault

Cause you know we're not the same

We're not the same

Oh we're not the same

Yeah we used to stick together

We wrote our names in blood

But I guess you can't accept that the change is good

It's good

It's good

I woke up early this morning around 4am

With the moon shining bright as headlights on the interstate

I pulled the covers over my head and tried to catch some sleep

But thoughts of us kept keeping me awake

Ever since you found yourself in someone else's arms

I've been tryin' my best to get along

But that's OK

There's nothing left to say, but

Take your records, take your freedom

Take your memories I don't need'em

Take your space and take your reasons

But you'll think of me

And take your cap and leave my sweater

'Cause we have nothing left to weather

In fact I'll feel a whole lot better

But you'll think of me, you'll think of me

I went out driving trying to clear my head

I tried to sweep out all the ruins that my emotions left

I guess I'm feeling just a little tired of this

And all the baggage that seems to still exist

It seems the only blessing I have left to my name

Is not knowing what we could have been

What we should have been

So

Take your records, take your freedom

Take your memories I don't need'em

Take your space and take your reasons

But you'll think of me

And take your cap and leave my sweater

'Cause we have nothing left to weather

In fact I'll feel a whole lot better

But you'll think of me

Someday I'm gonna run across your mind

Don't worry, I'll be fine

I'm gonna be alright

While you're sleeping with your pride

Wishing I could hold you tight

I'll be over you

And on with my life

So take your records, take your freedom

Take your memories I don't need'em

And take your cap and leave my sweater

'Cause we have nothing left to weather

In fact I'll feel a whole lot better

But you'll think of me

And you're gonna think of me

Oh someday baby, someday

The lyrics are on the video and this is the main song I listened to after he dropped the bomb and at first I was just more scared than anything. I guess I'd already lost a lot of my feelings b/c he was trying so hard to drive me away so he wouldn't have to come out, and I was trying so hard to make it work.

Something to be said about southern gentlemen....I didn't think they existed. I owe a certain person a huge thank you for something that most men would never understand or care too. Thank you Chris, for being understanding and respecting my hurts and my boundaries. It's different to have someone who respects you.....

Can't Take My Eyes Off You lyrics

I know that the bridges that I've burned

Along the way

Have left me with these walls and these scars

That won't go away

And opening up has always been the hardest thing

Until you came

[Chorus]

So lay here beside me just hold me and don't let go

This feelin' I'm feelin' is somethin' I've never known

And I just can't take my eyes off you

And I just can't take my eyes off you

I love when you tell me that I'm pretty

When I just woke up

And I love how you tease me when I'm moody

and it's never too much

I'm falling fast and the truth is I'm not scared at all

You broke my wall

[Repeat Chorus]

Off you

Off you

Got a guitar

Got a guitar on my back

And I'm standin' on this lonesome railroad track

Train's a comin'

It'll be here 'fore too long

But I don't think I can stop it with a song

Girl that's the kind of way I'm feelin'

Tryin' to stop your leavin'

Got a pebble

Got a pebble in my hand

And I toss it out into the middle of the Rio Grande

But the river keeps runnin'

Don't even know that I'm around

I could throw a million more and not slow it down

Girl that's kind of what I'm feelin'

Tryin' to stop your leavin'

There's nothin' that I wouldn't try

If I thought it would change your mind

But you don't love me

No you don't love me anymore

And I know as soon as you walk out that door

Train's a comin', river's runnin'

Train's a comin', river's runnin'

Pain's a comin', tears are runnin'

Yeah that's kind of the way I'm feelin'

Knowin' I couldn't stop your leavin'

You Go Girl

I've stayed away from this thread because it's so looooooooooong.

But recently I started listening to "hat" music lol

Never listened to it in my life before, being a mostly urban yank. :p

George Strait is a handsome fella. lol I like his 'gotta get to you'. You've probably already covered this song on this thread.

I also discovered Toby Keith because I love the song "As good as I once was". That song so befits any of us over 40, who feel the pain of aging, and those smartarse young people who don't realize that over 40 is a blink of an eye...it's coming quicker than they know it! As good as I once was makes me smile everytime I hear it. (I'm sure you already covered that song on this thread too!)

Hun....we over 40's are better than most that are on this thread when it comes to music, emotions, and having a better understanding of what is important in relationships.....going to music venues and such...I don't think I've had one man under 35 hit on me. I did have one 63 year old hit on me on Match....booooooot...he had no money...LMAO....:laugh::laugh::laugh:

There have been a lot of songs covered here, even originals that have now been registered under a BMI registration number by the original artist.

By the way, did you get my email ?

You Go Girl

Well Tojaz and Trippi--I have a confession to make. I've avoided country music like the plague my whole life because I thought it was redneck right-wing scary types.

I've been a fool.

Country music, as I've learned the last week, has its good and its bad like any other genre.

But it has something that a lot of popular pop, rock, does not. There's some really compassionate lyrics that I can relate to. And so the woman who wouldn't listen to country is now listening to it full time. lol

My daughter is shaking her head at me. She was playing some country years back and I wouldn't listen to it.

That's what happens when we totally discriminate against something. Make errors in judgment.

But it's fun to find something completely new in life that was there all along!

And I thought there was nothing new under the sun.

You Go Girl

Rob Thomas--"You Won't be Mine"

Take your head around the world

See what you get

From your mind

Write your soul down word for word

See who's your friend

Who is kind

It's almost like a disease

I know soon you will be

Over the lies, you'll be strong

You'll be rich in love and you will carry on

But no - oh no

No you won't be mine

Take your straight line for a curve

Make it stretch, the same old line

Try to find if it was worth what you spent

Why you're guilty for the way

You're feeling now

It's almost like being free

And I know soon you will be

Over the lies, you'll be strong

You'll be rich in love and you will carry on

But no - oh no

No you won't be mine

Take yourself out to the curb

Sit and wait

A fool for life

It's almost like a disease

I know soon you will be

Over the lies, you'll be strong

You'll be rich in love and you will carry on

But no - oh no

No you won't be mine

Very appropriate today

Rascal Flatts-- These days

Hey baby, is that you?

Wow, your hair got so long.

Yeah, yeah, I love it, I really do.

Norma Jean, ain't that the song we'd sing in the car

Drivin' downtown, top down, makin' the rounds

Checking out the bands on Doheny Avenue.

Yeah, life throws you curves,

But you've learned to swerve,

Me, I swung and I missed,

And the next thing ya know, I'm reminiscing...

Dreaming old dreams, wishing old wishes,

Like you would be back again.

I wake up and tear drops, that fall down like rain,

I put on that old song we danced to and then,

I head off to my job, guess not much has changed,

Punch the clock, head for home,

Check the phone, just in case,

Go to bed, dream of you,

That's what I'm doin' these days.

Yeah that's what I'm doin'

Someone told me, after college, you ran off to Vegas,

You married a rodeo cowboy,

Wow, that ain't the girl I knew,

Me, I've been a few places,

Mostly here and there once or twice,

Still sortin' out life, but I'm doin' all right,

Yeah, it's good to see you, too.

Well, hey girl you're late, and those planes, they don't wait,

But if you ever come back around this sleepy old town,

Promise me you'll stop in, to see an old friend, and until then

I wake up and tear drops, that fall down like rain,

I put on that old song we danced to and then,

I head off to my job, guess not much has changed,

Punch the clock, head for home,

Check the phone, just in case,

Go to bed, dream of you,

That's what I'm doin' these...

I wake up and tear drops, that fall down like rain,

I put on that old song we danced to and then,

I wake up and tear drops, that fall down like rain,

I put on that old song we danced to and then,

I wake up and tear drops, that fall down like rain,

I put on that old song we danced to and then

As I sit downstairs by myself, self medicating, I have to add one of my fav (feeling sorry for yourself) songs:

"How Did We Get From Saying 'I Love You'..."

'It was a cold day for September',

was all I thought to say

When I saw you on the street the other day

Something's changed between us,

all the talk we made was small

What do you say to someone when they've heard you say it all?

It's an awkward conversation,

in a most peculiar way...

[Chorus x2]

How did we get from saying 'I love you'

to 'I'll see you around someday'

Seems like only days ago, we had so much to say

We'd take it all for granted,

then it all gets thrown away

'It calls for rain this afternoon', she finally replied

There was a stuttering silence,

that I felt my mouth go dry

So we'll talk about the weather,

cause there's not much else to say...

[Chorus x2]

Has all the ice been broken,

all our surfaces been scratched

Have all our words been broken,

have we finally met our match?

[Chorus x3]

This is one I currently listen to while I try to make my way back to the world of whatever the world is....my reality (wait....let me flip that or should I)? Yes, I joke about my mental state....it's mine. :p:p Just reminds me that I gotta get going again...back to a state of "living".

"Play On"

What you're gonna do when the show is over

What you're gonna sing when the the song ends

How you're gonna cope when there is no closure

Where you're gonna reach when the goal gets higher

How you're gonna make it through

When you think you lost your chance

Play on when you're losing the game

Play on 'cause you're gonna make mistakes

It's always worth the sacrifice

Even when you think you're wrong

So play on

Even when the floodgates swing wide open

Never let the current take you down, no

Even when you're not sure where you're going

Swimming through a mess and you can't get out

Just going through the motions

Trying not to drown

Play on when you're losing the game

Play on 'cause you're gonna make mistakes

It's always worth the sacrifice

Even when you think you're wrong

So play on

Even through a storm on the darkest night

Don't you ever give up the fight

Even when you feel you're all alone

Play on, play on

Play on when you're losing the game

Play on 'cause you're gonna make mistakes

It's always worth the sacrifice

Even when you think you're wrong

So play on

"Someday When I Stop Loving You"

One foot on the bus about half past nine

I knew that you were leaving this time

I thought about laying down in its path

Thinking that you might get off for that

I remember that night we laid in bed

Naming all our kids that we hadn't had yet

One for your grandma and one for mine

Said we'd draw straws when it came time

[Chorus:]

I'll move on baby just like you

When the desert floods and the grass turns blue

When a sailing ship don't need a moon

It'll break my heart but I'll get through

Someday when I stop loving you

I bet all I had on a thing called love

I guess in the end it wasn't enough

And it's hard to watch you leave right now

I'm gonna have to learn to let you go somehow

Somehow

[Chorus]

Oh someday someday when I stop

[Chorus]

Someday when I stop loving you

"Love Don't Live Here"

Well this heart of mine has been hardened like a stone

It might take some time to get back what is gone

But I'm movin' on and you don't haunt my dreams

Like you did before oh when I would curse your name

Well I heard the news that you were back in town

Just passin' through to claim your lost and found

But I'm over you and there ain't nothin' that

You could say or do to take what you did back

Well you got nerve to waltz right in

And think what's mine is yours again

[Chorus]

Cause I've been doin' fine without you

Forgettin' all the love we once knew

And girl I ain't the one who slammed that door

But now you say you've changed your thinkin'

But I ain't got a heart for breakin'

So go and pick your bags up off my floor

Oh cause love don't live here anymore

Well baby you can try to tell me how it is

And try to justify everything you did

But honey I'm no fool and oh I've been down this road

Too many times with you I think it's best you go

Well I got one thing left to say

Is you can lay in the bed you've made

[Repeat Chorus]

Oh no that love don't live here anymore

Oh no, no

Sugar no, no

And you don't live here anymore

Love don't live here anymore

And since you walked out of my door

Love don't live here

Love don't live here girl

Oh love don't live here anymore

I've started to think of my bedroom in the basement/workshop/office as a prison... This is what came to mind tonight. We can always learn from the man in black (yes I DO have an odd sense of humor).

Folsom Prison Blues lyrics

I hear the train a comin'

It's rolling round the bend

And I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when,

I'm stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin' on

But that train keeps a rollin' on down to San Antone..

When I was just a baby my mama told me. Son,

Always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns.

But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die

When I hear that whistle blowing, I hang my head and cry..

I bet there's rich folks eating in a fancy dining car

They're probably drinkin' coffee and smoking big cigars.

Well I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free

But those people keep a movin'

And that's what tortures me...

Well if they freed me from this prison,

If that railroad train was mine

I bet I'd move it on a little farther down the line

Far from Folsom prison, that's where I want to stay

And I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away.....
