I hate to say this but I have a new fav...

I really couldn't see the whole dress in the picture but the 2nd from the last..

The one labeled "Dress from other bridal shop (not AA)"

Hot.. Hot..Hot... of course this is based on the 2 pics that were kinda close up..

I commented on that one in the album. That's actually my new favorite too. It's very flattering.

OMG.. Art.. you got to be kidding.. it's hideous.. really.. she looks like a 1930's old fashioned picture .. it is sooooo tacky..

LB.. don,t listen to Art.. he doesn't know anything about wedding dress.. :p...

I don't like any.. honestly.. but one that could be OK.. is the first row.. the one that says 'not a fan of this one'.. it's OK.. from all the dresses.. it's my favourite.. but then again.. I think you should look more into a classier, more unique dress.. or have one done by a seamstress..

Crud - I wish you had tried on the one I posted, with the A-line skirt and the itsy cap sleeves and fitted waist.

I know how to take them off..... oh. and pay for them..

Until I saw that pic I had just posted my first choice and that was B from the other grouping

B yeah

A is no way...

C would be my second choice

But I really like Art's new fav...

So now it would be "Dress from other bridal shop (not AA)"

or B from the other grouping..

Then C

The dress from AA is NOT tacky. Not in the slightest. It's really, really gorgeous. (I just really don't like the veil.)

I think Art and I might actually have the same taste in dresses. I think the others he likes best are the ones I do too. :D

I defer to Art on this one. He's clearly a wedding dress expert. I don't have quite the same.... queer eye. I guess that's what you'd call it.

Might I make a suggestion, LB? Perhaps doing your hair nicely and putting on some makeup (not full-on wedding day style, but pretty close) will give you a better idea of what you're going to look like on the big day.

BFF had a totally different experience in her dress when she went in done up, versus totally casual and makeup free. It tied the whole look together for her. :)

Yes well you're not tacky so you wouldn't find it so. :p

As for Art...maybe you should post a picture of your wedding dress. Just to help LB. ;)

Hm. I assumed Art wore a tux, but come to think of it I never saw a picture.

LB.. why not buy a magazine.. and find a dress you really like.. and ask a seamstress to make it.. it would probably be less expensive.. it would be unique.. and it wouldn't be as tacky as the dresses you already tried.. sorry but I just can't get over that last dress.. seriously.. it's hideous on you.... and the veil.. my gawd.. you look like an old religious icon..

trust me.. I'm not sure the advices you get are for your best interest.. trust me on that one.. ;)

Oh.. I forgot to add.. if you find a nice dress in a magazine.. you can make it your own by changing the skirt.. or altering the top... you know.. make it your 'unique' dress..

"Bro-mate"? Don't let the wedding dress euphoria get to you, Art. I know it's exciting and everything, but don't internalize it. Your wife and kid depend on you to be there for them.

I actually like the one from the other bridal shop as well. I think I want to buy the dress for the bridesmaids at AA though..would it be weird to buy my bridesmaids dresses there and a dress elsewhere? I just wouldn't get a discount on them I suppose.

I didn't like any of the bridesmaids dresses at the other store...

:laugh::laugh: I know where you're going with that one, sister...

LB - I've never heard of any etiquette requiring you to buy your bridesmaids dresses at the same place you buy your wedding dress. EVER. In fact, the BM dresses I've worn have come from everywhere BUT wedding dress places (Ann Taylor, JCrew, BCBG, Nordstrom, to be specific). If you're aiming for a discount and it just so happens that your BM dresses are at the same place as your wedding dress, awesome. But put priority on your wedding dress first. Let YOUR dress guide you. THAT's what you, your guests, and most importantly, your HUSBAND-to-be will remember. :)

They are nice, the issue that I have with those types of dresses is that the train isn't as long. I want a very long and beautiful train and the most those ones have is a little chapel train.

Did DB have any of their petite collections for you to try on?

I actually didn't ask. I think all the petite dresses come in regular form so you try on the regular one in the store and then specially order it in a petite style. That's probably what I would have to do.

I know at AA they have something along those lines, it's called "small dimensions" which means they just make the skirt shorter before they put all the beading or whatever else goes on the dress. I just saw this dress under the petite collection, I didn't try it on though.

http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49991499&currentIdx=4&subCategory=-49999486%7c-49998992%7c-49991499&catentryId=6110598&sort=

I think I am going to go back to the store where I found that dress SG liked. They have really nice dresses that actually LOOK expensive. (they aren't really though) The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't have a catelog because it's independently owned and they just get dresses in from random designers. So the lady basically grabbed me dresses based on what style I told her I wanted. Maybe when I go back I will ask if I can look through all the dresses to see what I want to try on.

IMO they were MUCH nicer than anything I saw at DB or AA.

The lady at the shop has likely fitted many brides, so you may even want to ask her advice on what would look good on your silhouette. Tell her basic parameters, like if you hate all-over lace or if you want lots of beading, but tell her that you want to try various styles and ask for the opinion she would give you if you were her daughter.

Yeah, she actually was a huge help. She told me exactly what she thought of all the dresses. She wasn't pushy either like the people at DB and AA.

Actually the lady at AA pissed me off, I told her my mom was coming on Monday from SC so she said she was booking me an appointment for 4 without asking me!! I told her I didn't know what time my mom was coming so she said she was going to book me an appointment for Tuesday also and to just call to cancel the one on Monday if my mom got in late! Sheesh!!! I realize they want to make a sale but still...

I think I'm going to cancel both. They can wait until I go to the other bridal shop. They would be pissed off though if I order the bridesmaids dresses there and not my dress..oh well!
