Rollercoasterr
Unfortunately I have to get a size 6 because my bust is too big. My waist is a size 4 so I will just have to have the stomach altered, that's not a big deal though. I want to be able to breath. I was in shock when I found out what dress size I was going to have to get because of these boulders I carry around all day long. Every dress fit PERFECTLY until it came to the boobs part. Family curse, and fiance's favorite toys.
Star Gazer
Unfortunately I have to get a size 6 because my bust is too big. Well, wedding dresses are typically sized MUCH smaller than your real size. My BFF had to get a 12or 14, and she was only like an 8 (if memory serves)! Have you looked at Pronovias dresses? I've shown this one before... this is what my BFF wore. The straps really helped keep her boobs in place and looking gorgeous. Just full enough to be big, but still streamlined and oh-so-elegant. http://www.partypop.com/Forums/images/277275.jpg Here's more Pronovias: http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/images/dresses/11021/src/Pronovias-A-line-41693-off-white-2008-43743.jpg http://pics.classifieds.weddingbee.com/12267.1.jpg http://www.pureweddingsuk.com/Pronovias-bridalwear/Roble-PRONOVIAS.jpg Edited October 20, 2009 by Star Gazer

There are only really commerial stores around here (DB and AA). Most of the other dress shops are independently owned and very small...not much of a selection of dresses. When I went to try on dresses 3 months ago I had to take a size 12 (in the dress that RC bought) and now I'm a 6!!!

There are 12 stores in PA that carry Pronovias. If you go to their site, you can find the one that's closest to you. Regardless of price, I'd avoid purchasing a dress at a major commercial store, like DB or AA... I imagine you want to feel unique and special, right?
Star Gazer
I want to see the dresses on you LB! I can't believe you're already dress shopping. I still haven't set foot in a bridal store HOP TO IT woman! Don't you only have like 6 months left??
Star Gazer
I know right? Feels like only yesterday we were telling her to be patient, to trust that he would propose when he felt the time was right (at least that's what I was saying). Sniff sniff, she is growing up. Pass the brandy... :lmao:

Star Gazer
Ehhh... I don't like that one nearly as much as the one in your profile. You need something that's more fitted to your hips, LB. Really.
Rollercoasterr
I think that would be one of the dresses that could surprise you when you put it on. If you've even got an inkling that you like a dress, by all means, try it on! When you've found "the one" you'll know just like you knew with your fiance. And it makes the saying even more true that you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince. You've got to try on all those dresses before you find your "one"!
sb129
Yep, looks like the majority like Dress C, from DB (my fave). The only thing about that dress is that the material (moreso in person) looks like it's on the "cheap side" if anyone can understand that. Yeah, I can, but it really won't make that much of a difference in photos etc- where the FIT and CUT will. Ehhh... I don't like that one nearly as much as the one in your profile. You need something that's more fitted to your hips, LB. Really. Agreed X100000000. I really loved the ones SG posted. Out of the latest selection from AA, if I HAD to pick one it would be B or C and thats based mainly on the fact that they are fitted to your hips. I didn't like the flouncy lacy one. I am not a fan of the ballgown styles on you LB, esp with your height. You have the figure to carry off the fitted ones, truly. And you will definitely look like a princess. I like the top on that one.. really sexy.. but not the skirt.. it's too much.. if the skirt was plain.. it would be gorgeous..

I don't know, I just wasn't crazy enough about the one at DB to be like "woah I HAVE to have this dress!!!" It's my favorite out of all of them, I just didn't see it as the absolute "one" if you know what I mean...
alphamale
It's my favorite out of all of them, I just didn't see it as the absolute "one" if you know what I mean... well you obviously picked out the bridegroom as "the one" so you can most definitely pick out a dress thats "the one"
Rollercoasterr
well you obviously picked out the bridegroom as "the one" so you can most definitely pick out a dress thats "the one" You really need to go wedding dress shopping with LB. In a bridal shop when a girl puts on a dress that is HER dress, most often than not there's tears involved. My mother had every mom in DB crying when I put my dress on. I'm absolutely under no circumstances the type of person that cries, but when I saw myself in it, I teared up a little. On no other dress did I do that. Just go hang on in a bridal shop for a few hours. If nothing else you might get a peek in the dressing rooms.
alphamale
Just go hang on in a bridal shop for a few hours. would i have to prance around and talk with a lisp and be all flamboyant?

However I was heavier, therefore it's quite possible that I will find something that looks better on me AND is "the one."
Rollercoasterr
would i have to prance around and talk with a lisp and be all flamboyant? Only if you want to get in those dressing rooms! After you're in you can go back to normal. No guarantees that you wont be escorted out by police though. Just the risk you gotta take.
Author Lauriebell82
would i have to prance around and talk with a lisp and be all flamboyant? Nah, I think a biker outfit would do the trick. They need some testosterone in those stores.
Star Gazer
Maybe you should take a weekend trip to Kleinfeld and get on "Say Yes to the Dress"!
Rollercoasterr
I love that show. LB, you should do it!! Then we could WATCH your dress shopping experience and not have to wait for you to post pictures. But then, by the time it aired you'd probably be married.

My mother had every mom in DB crying when I put my dress on. I'm absolutely under no circumstances the type of person that cries, but when I saw myself in it, I teared up a little. . It wasn't like that for me- I went dress shopping on my own the first time because I didn't want too many opinions. (I am a lone shopper anyway) And my mum lived in a different country at the time. I cried on the way home because I found a dress I liked but it was waaaaay over our budget! Then I found the same one on ebay, so it was all happy happy in the end. I didn't overdo the dress shopping- I decided once I found that dress at such a cheap price that was it, I probably would have fallen in love with a dozen other dresses had I continued the search and then (being quite indecisive) ended up getting stressed out about it. Instead I blew the rest of my dress budget on some Jimmy Choos which I can wear again, and forgot about it till the wedding. I think I looked good.
melodymatters
Maybe you should take a weekend trip to Kleinfeld and get on "Say Yes to the Dress"! Hahaha..I have never watched this show ( until today) and prob never would, but in light of feeling like I'm "dress shopping with LB", I actually watched the whole half hour show ! TBH, they all started looking alike after a bit. I also always prefer Ivory/ off white to WHITE white.
Trialbyfire
Keep on trying on the dresses, until you hit "the one". I'd stay away from anything that has a tasteless corset top. I do encourage you to try on something even more fitted than the A-line. Not mermaid but something more tapered than A-line, with a longer train.
Rollercoasterr
I honestly more than likely wouldn't have bought my dress so early if it hadn't of been for the fact that it was discontinued and the price dropped. I love that dress, but was still reserved to think about my other options when I left DB that day. When I got home I had a message on my voicemail from my "consultant"(whom I'd like to see play in traffic now) saying that my dress had been discontinued. They dropped the price $300 and I bought the dress. I loved that dress way to much to pass it up for $549. I've spent almost that much on prom dresses before, and if my mother has her way she'll spend more than that on her outfit.
sb129
Sometimes having to make a snap decision like that (it was the same for me) makes things sooo much easier. My mum DEFINITELY spent more on her outfit than I did. Lol.
